Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering or related field and 4+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of both.
  • On-site role located in Cincinnati or Versailles, Ohio, four days a week (not remote).
  • Knowledge of various microcontrollers/microprocessors, their architectures, and functionalities.
  • Ability to create object libraries, applications, daemons, and drivers deployed inside embedded hardware devices.
  • Experience with tools like Jenkins or Travis CI for automated testing and deployment.
  • Proficiency with version control tools like Git.
  • Ability to program in high level and low-level languages as appropriate including C/C++ and assembler; other language experience in Java, Perl, or similar languages is desired.
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical tools and methods to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to lead the design of complex systems and identify new technological opportunities.
  • Ability to conduct design reviews to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and assess complex technical risks associated with projects.
  • Ability to lead investigations into the root causes of defects and issues.
Responsibilities
  • Develops, debugs, and tests complex firmware for a wide variety of processor architectures.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves firmware-related issues.
  • Contributes to the architecture and design of firmware systems.
  • Develops comprehensive testing strategies.
  • Validates firmware functionality and performance.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align decisions with business goals.
  • Acts as team contributor with some technical leadership, provides guidance, anticipates, and prevents issues.
  • Plans, implements, and optimizes complex solutions, leads design and development of medium-sized projects.
  • Applies advanced tools and methods to solve complex problems. Tackles technical challenges and contributes to troubleshooting effort.
  • Contributes to IP creation. Understands and navigates IP considerations when working with partners.
  • Participates in code reviews of junior engineers.
  • Develops and maintains custom tools to support firmware development.
  • Brings up new hardware designs in the lab independently.
  • Interfaces with cross-functional teams to help define requirements and iterate designs through final release and verification testing.
  • Leads or participates in process redesign, defines KPIs, leads change management.
  • Applies domain expertise to the application and advancement of engineering methods and tools.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to level I and level II engineers.

Midmark RTLS launches BLE Sensory Network for faster, scalable healthcare location tracking

Midmark RTLS has launched its Bluetooth Low Energy Sensory Network, offering healthcare facilities a faster, more cost-effective path to facility-wide real-time location tracking. The system uses plug-in BLE sensors to provide near-room location precision of 3-5 metres for staff, patients and equipment. The solution supports critical use cases including asset tracking and staff duress, with minimal infrastructure investment and rapid deployment. Midmark is also releasing a BLE/IR Hybrid Sensory Network in limited early release, combining BLE coverage with infrared technology for room-level precision to support advanced applications like nurse call automation and patient flow. Since 1988, over 1,100 hospitals and clinics have deployed Midmark CareFlow RTLS. The new system is designed as an enterprise-wide platform that can scale with operational needs.
