YouTube is offering millions of dollars to popular creators who agree to upload videos exclusively to its platform for a set period, Bloomberg reported. The company is negotiating two types of payments: funding for specific programmes and revenue shares from large advertiser partnerships. Creators who sign with Netflix whilst working with YouTube risk being excluded from the platform's marketing campaigns and losing access to certain brand deals. Netflix has been signing non-exclusive agreements allowing creators to post the same content on both platforms simultaneously, reaching its 325 million subscribers. YouTube Chief Executive Neal Mohan recently decided the growing number of creators posting on both platforms undermined the company's ability to convince advertisers of exclusive value. YouTube previously used similar tactics against Vessel, a now-defunct startup. In 2025, YouTube's revenue exceeded $60 billion, surpassing Netflix.
Zack Snyder's 300 rumored to continue in a surprising way, first details here. August 19, 2026 Zack Snyder's iconic fantasy action franchise may be returning, bringing the epic battle world back to audiences in a brand-new format. Fans of the 300 franchise have a reason to celebrate as fresh reports point toward a potential television expansion. According to film critic John Rocha, Netflix and Warner Bros. are working on a 300 TV show. The report mentions the show would be a 'prequel,' and Zack Snyder is attached to direct the pilot. While the project has not received a formal series order yet, a writers' room has reportedly been assembled. Fans should treat it as an early development update since the studios have not greenlit the project. The new report also corroborates Variety's 2024 report, which stated that Warner Bros. Television was in early talks with Snyder to direct and executive produce a 300 prequel show. As per the report, producers Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann were also in talks to return. For now, Netflix and Warner Bros. have not confirmed the series. The original 2007 film starring Gerard Butler was adapted from Frank Miller and Lynn Varley's 1998 graphic novel. The film became a huge box office hit, having grossed more than $450 million worldwide. A sequel, titled 300: Rise of an Empire, was released in 2014 and earned more than $330 million. What else is Zack Snyder working on besides the rumored 300 prequel show? Beyond the rumored 300 prequel series, Snyder has several projects moving forward on his production slate. The filmmaker is currently focused on his upcoming action thriller, The Last Photograph, a project that was announced more than a decade ago. Starring Stuart Martin, Fra Free, Jackie Kay, and many more, the film is currently in the post-production stage. Apart from directing his long-awaited project, Snyder also penned the script while serving as a producer and cinematographer. Alongside The Last Photograph, Snyder is gearing up to write and direct the reimagined version of 1981's sci-fi action film, Escape from New York. He is also developing an upcoming action film centered on an elite LAPD unit. Manoj Chekkilla is an Entertainment Writer for Evolve Media, covering film, TV and video games. With over four years of experience across the entertainment and gaming industries, he has experience of reporting on industry news, major releases, and emerging trends. When not writing, Manoj can be found watching movies, exploring new TV shows or playing video games.
Demon Hunter files trademark lawsuit against Netflix. Demon Hunter, a Christian metal band, has filed a lawsuit against Netflix, Netflix Studios, and AEG Presents, claiming that the companies' use of the KPop Demon Hunters name violates its registered trademark. The band's corporation, Hyde Lane, filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, as per The Wrap, which claims to have seen the full complaint. It alleges unfair competition, misleading designation of origin, and trademark infringement. Since its founding in 2000, Demon Hunter has released albums, toured, and sold merchandise under its name for over 20 years. The lawsuit claims that the KPop Demon Hunters brand has "nearly full overlap" with the products and services the band provides as a result of Netflix's wildly popular animated film, its music, merchandising, and a planned worldwide concert tour co-sponsored with AEG. As the senior user of the Demon Hunter mark, Hyde Lane asserts that Netflix's far wider audience may lead viewers to believe the band is associated with, sponsored by, or inspired by the animated movie. "Defendants' greater size and strength overwhelms Hyde Lane's established identity," the complaint claims, asserting that businesses with significantly more resources have essentially taken control of the band's commercial identity. The suit seeks an injunction restricting the defendants' use of the name, along with Netflix's profits, treble and exemplary damages, attorneys' fees, and other relief. Hyde Lane has also demanded a jury trial. At the time of publication, neither Netflix nor AEG had replied to The Wrap's request for comment. KPop Demon Hunters, which debuted in June 2025, is by far Netflix's largest property. It has generated a vast retail empire, a chart-topping soundtrack, and an increasing number of franchise expansions. The contentious music tour is anticipated to visit 150 locations.
'Operation Safed Sagar' ranks No. 2 globally on Netflix. Netflix's Indian military series 'Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story of the Kargil War' has reached No. 2 on the platform's Global Top 10 Non-English TV List. According to a PTI report from Mumbai today, the six-episode series premiered on Netflix on August 7 and has remained in the global Top 10 for two consecutive weeks, the series has entered the Top 10 in 40 countries and reached No. 1 in 10 countries. Along with the success of 'Operation Safed Sagar', Netflix has announced a new documentary titled 'The Last Salute'. The documentary will focus on the 62-year history of the MiG-21 with the Indian Air Force. 'The Last Salute' will also cover the role of the MiG-21 during the 1999 Kargil War and its long association with the Indian Air Force.
Demon Hunter file suit against Netflix & more over 'kpop Demon Hunters' trademark concerns. Veteran Christian metal band Demon Hunter have filed suit against Netflix, Netflix Studios and AEG Presents, citing trademark infringement, false designation of origin, and unfair competition. The claims relate to Netflix's 2025 hit animated series 'KPop Demon Hunters', which has spawned various trademark applications for merch and such in relation to the show's crossover into live events and more. Complex obtained a copy of the complaint, which the band filed today, August 18th, in a Californian court via their operating corporation of Hyde Lane. According to Complex, the band have cited circumstances of brand confusion surrounding the band and the series. One example shared involved a fan of the series mistakenly purchasing $500 worth of tickets for a Demon Hunter concert in Albany, NY for themself and their five and 6-year-old daughters under the presumption they were attending a 'KPop Demon Hunters' show. Said fan realized their mistake and sought out a refund. Demon Hunter formed in 2000 and have been an active band since with twelve studio albums to their credit and countless tours undertaken. The group are seeking a jury trial in this dispute and argue that ongoing overlap in the same fields from the two entities could lead to considerable consumer confusion and improper associations between the animated series and the band. The group are seeking to have their "rightful interests" restored in regards to the trademark. They further demand that Netflix be barred from using the 'KPop Demon Hunters' name and are asking for restitution and treble damages.
