The Enrollment Specialist works on a broader team responsible for educating and helping our participants at a critical decision point when deciding whether to join their employer’s 401(k) with John Hancock 401(k).
The successful Enrollment Specialist is well versed in John Hancock 401(k) products and their underlying asset classes and investment options. Using discretion and judgement, the Enrollment Specialist assesses participants’ unique retirement goals, educates them on the specifics of their John Hancock 401(k) plan, and then offers solutions that are aligned with participants’ best interests. This involves establishing individual retirement goals, setting a deferral rate, thoroughly explaining the plan’s investment options and 401(k) plan specifics and details. While assessing the participants retirement and investment acumen, the enrollment specialist utilizes a suite of John Hancock educational tools to assist the participant in developing a customized strategy aimed to reach their individual goals, including the assisting and guiding participants to make investment selections that are in line with their specific goals. Enrollment Specialists also identify account consolidations opportunities during the enrollment process, and collaborate Consolidation Specialists to facilitate related asset gathering activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Member of inbound/outbound phone-based team focused on educating and help participants at a critical decision point when determining whether to join their employers 401(k) plan
Establish and maintain relationships with participants throughout the enrollment process
Develop a customized retirement savings plan for the participant based on an individual’s needs
Discover if the individual has prior retirement savings that may be available to combine into their new 401(k); collaborate with Consolidation Specialists to extend the service proposition
Educate participants on the rules and regulations of their specific plan and how to best utilize it to meet their retirement needs
Become well versed in JH’s product offerings as well as all retirement products (SIMPLEs, 401(k), Individual IRAs, Cash Balance plans, DB plans, non-qualified, etc.) and current laws.
Assist participants, advisors and relationship managers with all options available to enroll participants into their plan
Recommend a deferral amount based on information attained when consulting with the participant based on their individual goals and situation
Educate participants on all the investment options available to them in the plan
Deliver superior service in a professional manner while always putting the participant first
Effectively explain investment strategies and discuss the plan investment line-up in order to help the participant properly invest based on their individual preferences
Participate in training and coaching development programs to enhance skills and provide opportunities for advancement within PFS and other firm wide sales, marketing, and management related functions
Adhere to the highest levels of integrity and professional conduct
Meet monthly production and activity targets
Required Qualifications:
Fluency in both Spanish and English is required
Bachelor’s Degree with a preference on Business and or Finance or equivalent years’ experience
A commitment to attain the Series 6 and 63 plus state insurance and variable licenses within 6 months of hire
Passion for assisting participants on a one-on-one basis
Versatility to use multiple tools and systems to efficiently research and ensure it is in the participants best interest as well as within the plans specification
Preferred Qualifications:
An excellent understanding of retirement plans, retirement plan marketplace, and retirement vehicles
Thorough understanding of John Hancock story, products, services and procedures
Strong understanding of investments and portfolio analysis
Strong understanding of regulatory environment and its impact on business and the plan documents
Ability to anticipate, meet and/or exceed customer needs, wants and expectations
Ability to quickly recover from adversity
Ability to effectively communicate, build rapport and relate well to all kinds of people
Ability to manage time and multiple task to achieve desired outcomes
Ability to affect other’s actions, decisions, opinions or thinking
Ability to hold oneself accountable for personal actions
