Requirements
  • At least 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor's degree, or at least 10 years of experience with an advanced degree such as a Master's, MBA, JD, or MD, or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • At least 15 years of software engineering experience, including senior executive leadership roles.
  • Experience leading large, globally distributed engineering organizations of more than 100 engineers.
  • Experience owning mission-critical, regulator-visible platforms operating at global scale.
  • Background in payments, financial services, or large-scale transaction processing platforms.
  • Experience driving AI-enabled or automation-led transformation in high-risk operational environments.
  • Hands-on experience applying generative artificial intelligence, machine learning, or advanced analytics in production systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide executive accountability for Clearing platforms that clear and settle hundreds of millions of transactions daily.
  • Own platform outcomes including financial accuracy, settlement timeliness, resiliency, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Define and execute a multi-year generative artificial intelligence and automation transformation strategy across Clearing.
  • Apply generative artificial intelligence to predictive incident detection and prevention, intelligent exception handling and transaction monitoring, and automated reconciliation, controls, and audit readiness.
  • Embed generative artificial intelligence across the software development lifecycle, including design, engineering, testing, and operations.
  • Determine where generative artificial intelligence adds meaningful value and where deterministic, rules-based approaches must remain.
  • Partner with Architecture, Risk, Legal, and Controls teams to ensure responsible, explainable, and regulator-ready artificial intelligence adoption.
  • Own multi-year modernization roadmaps aligned to VisaNet evolution, cloud adoption, and service-based architectures.
  • Lead complex change across legacy platforms and modern technology stacks while managing operational risk.
  • Provide strategic input into enterprise architecture, data strategy, and platform standardization decisions affecting VisaNet at scale.
  • Drive the evolution of engineering standards to ensure long-term scalability and excellence.
  • Ensure 24x7 operations with extreme availability and accuracy requirements.
  • Own production readiness, incident management, post-incident learning, audits, and regulatory engagements.
  • Own operational, financial, and risk metrics presented to executive leadership, the board, and regulators.
  • Lead a large, globally distributed engineering organization spanning multiple time zones.
  • Develop succession pipelines, including leaders with deep platform and generative artificial intelligence fluency.
  • Establish a culture centered on ownership, operational discipline, accountability, and responsible innovation.
  • Partner with Product, Platform Architecture, Treasury, Risk, and Operations leaders to deliver end-to-end payment processing outcomes.
  • Translate business, regulatory, and risk requirements into clear platform strategies and executable plans.
  • Drive measurable, outcome-focused, and regulator-credible generative artificial intelligence adoption.
  • Lead modernization efforts while managing tradeoffs among speed, stability, and operational risk.
  • Represent the organization in executive forums, regulatory discussions, audits, and critical partner engagements.
  • Travel 5–10% of the time.
