Requirements
  • Accredited pediatric dentistry residency completed; minimum two years of pediatric dentistry experience required.
  • Must possess an active Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from an American Dental Association-accredited dental school with a license to practice in California.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Administration license required.
  • Prior experience working in a community health environment is a plus.
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Performing oral examinations and corrective care for children, including dental exams, repairing cavities, diagnosing oral conditions, and developing treatment plans.
  • Habit counseling for pacifier use and thumb sucking.
  • Fabricates space maintainers designed for patients.
  • Treat primary and secondary teeth and construct and place bridges, dentures, and obturating appliances suitable for growing arches.
  • Provide dental care to infants through teenage years.
  • Diagnose oral conditions associated with diseases such as diabetes, congenital heart defect, asthma, hay fever and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
  • Manage gum diseases and conditions including ulcers, short frenulae, mucoceles, and pediatric periodontal disease.
  • Care for dental injuries (fractured, displaced, or knocked-out teeth).
  • Educate parents about oral hygiene habits and help children maintain dental health.
  • Advise parents on preventative dental health measures and cleaning and flossing teeth.
  • Provide dietary counseling and arrange for educational services for communities.
  • Provide significant pediatric dental health information.
  • Risk assessment for dental ailments in both mother and child.
  • Will use EPIC Electronic Health Records System and digital Dexis X-ray system.
  • Delivers high quality care to patients.
  • Delivers dental care to the pediatric special needs population as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
