Requirements
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of United Kingdom construction or civil engineering experience, focused on site-based work, is required.
  • An up-to-date CSCS Card is mandatory, preferably a Management or Professionally Qualified Person Card.
  • Proficiency in construction software, including computer-aided design, project management tools, ASite or 4Projects document management software, and Fieldview quality management processes, is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with team members, contractors, and clients.
  • The ability to quickly assess and resolve site issues to ensure project continuity is required.
  • Strong teamwork ability is essential.
  • The role requires adherence to safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, permit requirements, COSHH, HAVS, manual handling, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • The role requires knowledge of survey equipment, dimensional control, setting out, material testing, construction methods, temporary works, lifting plans, crane operations, quality assurance, and project information management.
Responsibilities
  • Implement Statom standards and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to Statom's strategic goals and maintain its reputation while delivering technical excellence and certainty in delivery.
  • Assess and help develop Trainee, Graduate, and Apprentice Engineers.
  • Carry out dimensional control, monitoring, setting out, cross-checking, and as-built survey activities.
  • Select suitable survey equipment, maintain regular equipment checks, and transfer setting-out data between instruments, pile schedule spreadsheets, two-dimensional computer-aided design data, and three-dimensional models.
  • Produce as-built drawings in line with project specifications and raise non-compliances with the Senior or Project Engineer.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior engineers and colleagues.
  • Maintain suitable setting-out control points and datums, raising issues with the Senior Manager when necessary.
  • Adhere to specification and Inspection and Test Plan requirements and produce quality assurance documentation, primarily using Fieldview.
  • Raise and close out Non-Conformance Reports with agreed mitigations.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Apply relevant industry standards and external guidance, including BS6187 and CIRIA C740.
  • Lead the site team in maintaining consistent, high-quality standards.
  • Record site measures, assess material wastage, carry out material take-offs, maintain records, handle samples, and ensure material testing is completed to the correct standards.
  • Ensure materials are approved, used in the correct locations, and compliant with specified mix designs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Deploy appropriate construction methods, apply lessons learned, create sketches and drawings, and make informed value-engineering decisions to minimize material waste.
  • Obtain the latest design revisions and ensure work is based on current information.
  • Raise Technical Queries and Requests for Information when information is missing or conflicting.
  • Manage three-dimensional models and two-dimensional AutoCAD information in a controlled and current manner.
  • Understand temporary works and undertake Temporary Works Supervisor responsibilities when appropriately trained and competent.
  • Assist with design briefs and follow lifting plans; understand crane operations and the roles of the Appointed Person and Crane Supervisor.
  • Identify sustainable solutions and carbon efficiencies and meet project sustainability requirements.
  • Participate in Corporate Social Responsibility activities and follow applicable United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Deliver daily briefings, task briefings, and toolbox talks; assist with task sheets and activity-specific risk assessments.
  • Maintain a detailed site diary covering relevant commercial issues and notify the commercial team of changes to project information.
  • Understand material costs and project budgets and assist with procurement, material take-offs, and resource recommendations.
  • Check delivered materials against order tickets and project specifications.
  • Communicate project developments, understand site logistics, manage logistics for assigned tasks, contribute to workforce and subcontractor supervision, and report output and resource efficiency.
  • Contribute to project quality assurance, handover requirements, programme delivery, and sufficient time for quality completion.
  • Identify personal development needs, seek support, work toward professional accreditation and chartership, and maintain continuing professional development records.
  • Lead by example in maintaining high health and safety standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Health and safety qualifications, such as First Aid or Occupational Safety and Health Administration qualifications, are preferred.
  • Highly proficient use of a Total Station, preferably the TS16 Robotic, is desired.
  • Competency in Fieldview processes is desired.
  • Up-to-date continuing professional development and progress toward professional accreditation or chartership are desirable.
