Requirements
  • Pharmacy technician registration with the State of Vermont is required for Vermont employees.
  • The employee must complete a drug test.
  • The employee is subject to initial and continuous exclusion and sanction or disciplinary monitoring.
  • The employee must complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and follow standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Assist professional staff with triaging, processing, and delivering prescriptions to patients.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory management and third-party receivables.
  • Perform pharmacy clerk duties as needed, including operating the cash register and answering telephones.
  • Learn and use the pharmacy management system, including reception and release-to-patient queues, and the point-of-sale system.
  • Follow instructions, complete tasks with urgency, and maintain daily department standards.
  • Follow quality assurance policies and procedures and patient-care programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain accuracy with cash and related cash controls.
  • Use pharmacy technology for product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow steps.
  • Ensure that every prescription is checked by a pharmacist before dispensing it to the patient.
  • Assist with initial submission and required resubmission of third-party claims.
  • Manage inventory ordering, receiving, freshness, return-to-stock processes, and cycle counting.
  • Check pharmacy inventory for outdated products and process returns.
  • Locate prescription files and other manual records from storage as needed.
  • Prepare and file manual records for pharmacist signatures and review.
  • Comply with company integrity standards and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and company operational policies and procedures.
  • Perform store clerk duties as needed.
  • Manage the medication therapy management program and other patient-centered professional services.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate of Science degree or higher is preferred.
  • Hospital or retail pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • PTCB or another nationally recognized pharmacy technician certification is preferred.
