Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required; a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is specified.
  • Proven experience in finite element analysis, preferably in the aerospace or aviation industries, focused on aircraft engine externals design, with 1–3 years of experience is required.
  • Experience with ANSYS is required.
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis principles as applied to aircraft engine design is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must currently hold or be willing to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in designing tubes and ducts for fluid and gas systems for aircraft engine externals to ensure system functionality.
  • Assist in designing brackets and structural supports to securely mount external components to aircraft engine structures while maintaining structural integrity and minimizing weight.
  • Investigate and determine root causes of field failures of aircraft engine external components, and propose and implement design improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, design engineering, and manufacturing, to integrate external components into the overall engine design.
  • Use computational tools to generate analysis models for external components.
  • Analyze and post-process results, and prepare high-quality presentations.
  • Conduct design reviews, perform analysis, and create detailed engineering documentation to support the development and certification of aircraft engine external components.

  • Experience adopting or integrating emerging technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence, automation platforms, or digital assistants, into day-to-day operations for continuous improvement.
