  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study required
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required
  • Residency in internal medicine or family medicine is required
  • Current license issued by LA State Board of Medical Examiners

Responsibilities
  • Conducts comprehensive examinations and evaluations and makes treatment decisions
  • Admits patients to the hospital for primary care physicians on need basis
  • Provides primary and consultative medical care to patients admitted to various units of the hospital with appropriate subspecialty consultation
  • Coordinates care of patients through appropriate collaboration with other physicians, nursing staff, case managers and ancillary service providers
  • Keeps patients informed and gives periodic updates as appropriate
  • Participates in hospital’s utilization management, risk management and performance improvement programs

  • 2 years of practice as a Hospitalist preferred
