Requirements
  • Deep, hands-on ServiceNow expertise.
  • Experience as the senior technical owner of a ServiceNow platform across ITSM, HR Service Delivery (HRSD), Knowledge, and Virtual Agent.
  • Ability to engage with IT leadership, People, Operations, and Finance and translate cross-functional requirements into scalable platform solutions.
  • Self-starter who takes full ownership with minimal oversight.
  • Clear communication of technical complexity to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to write clean, well-tested, well-documented code and artifacts.
  • Experience using AI development tools such as Claude Enterprise and ChatGPT as force multipliers.
  • Curiosity about existing platform architecture and ability to propose changes rather than simply maintain.
  • Career path toward Principal ServiceNow Platform Engineer and eventual platform architect or enterprise systems lead.
  • Location preference for White Plains, NY onsite two days a week; willingness to travel to VEG Hospitals as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Platform development and new builds: Design and build custom applications, workflows, and configurations across ITSM, HRSD, Knowledge, and Virtual Agent in Non Production, User Acceptance Testing, and Production environments. Implement Access Control Lists, business rules, UI policies, and data policies. Build and optimize Virtual Agent flows and AI-powered experiences. Write and maintain automated tests, lead code reviews, and actively leverage AI development tools (Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT) to accelerate delivery, with security considerations.
  • Stakeholder engagement and requirements: Serve as the senior technical partner for IT, Operations, People, and cross-functional leadership. Lead technical discussions alongside the Senior ServiceNow Product Manager and IT SaaS Architect. Translate business requests into technical specifications independently, manage the incoming request backlog, and set priorities and timelines without needing the IT SaaS Architect to bridge the gap.
  • Integrations and automation: Build and maintain REST/SOAP integrations with platforms across VEG's stack, including Workday, Okta, and third-party connectors. Develop Flow Designer automations to reduce manual handoffs and identify new automation opportunities to improve the VEGgie experience without adding headcount.
  • Governance, maintenance and mentorship: Handle reactive support, bug fixes, and platform upgrades. Enforce development standards and security compliance. Mentor team members through code reviews and pairing sessions. Maintain technical documentation and Knowledge Base content so the platform does not become dependent on any single person.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leveraging AI development tools such as Claude Enterprise and ChatGPT as force multipliers (if not already required).
  • Willingness to be onsite in White Plains, NY two days a week and travel to VEG Hospitals as needed.
  • Experience in platform governance, mentorship, and documentation practices beyond day-to-day development.
Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG ER)

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG ER)

View

VEG ER provides after-hours emergency veterinary care, operating during nights, weekends, and holidays when ordinary animal hospitals are closed. It serves as an extension of primary veterinary practices, collaborating with regular veterinarians to ensure continuous, urgent care for pets. Pet owners access immediate emergency consultations, treatments, and procedures, with VEG ER handling high‑stress cases when regular clinics are unavailable. The service model centers on rapid response and close partnership with referring vets rather than standing alone, and revenue comes from fees for emergency consultations and procedures. The team is led by Dr. David Bessler, who aims to transform emergency veterinary medicine through a holistic and openly collaborative approach. The goal is to fill the after-hours care gap by providing reliable, high-quality emergency services that integrate with primary care providers.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • VEG updated its brand to VEG ER for Pets in 2026, sharpening emergency recall.
  • VEG reported more than 100 locations nationwide and 3,578 employees by March 2026.
  • New Friendswood, Wisconsin, and Port Saint Lucie openings extend its growth runway.

What critics are saying

  • Hood v. Veterinary Emergency Group filed May 28, 2026, signals labor and FMLA exposure.
  • 24/7 staffing drives burnout; every vacant overnight shift directly limits hospital throughput.
  • If recruiter pipelines fail, VEG's always-open model becomes unprofitable and operationally brittle.

What makes Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG ER) unique

  • VEG ER for Pets runs walk-in, 24/7 emergency care with open-concept hospitals.
  • VEG trains non-ER veterinarians through NERD, converting them into emergency doctors.
  • VEG serves exotics too, broadening urgent-care demand beyond dogs and cats.
