Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of additional experience and education
  • 2+ years of payroll accounting experience with solid knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • 2+ years of experience with Paycom or a similar payroll service for a company with 500+employees
  • 2+ years of experience with timesheet administration in Unanet or a similar ERP system
  • Familiarity working with benefits vendors such as Flores, Carefirst and WMATA
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential employee information in a professional manner
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
  • Assist payroll manager with the semi-monthly payroll processes as well as any off-cycle processes
  • Assist with the timekeeping system and review timesheets prior to payroll processing
  • Manage employee work locations and respective state and local tax profiles
  • Verify personnel records, benefit deduction changes set up by HR and modifications to the payroll system
  • Perform monthly payroll reconciliations and authorization of payroll invoices including health benefits, 401k invoices and various other fringe benefit invoices
  • Coordinate with the HR department to ensure the processing of new hires, changes to compensation, status changes and terminations is accurate and timely
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Review, approve and process personnel action forms from payroll system
  • Monitor and resolve any payroll related issues and employee inquiries via the payroll email and helpdesk ticketing system
  • Produce ad hoc payroll reports
