Requirements
  • Must be proficient in performing all applicable current test methods.
  • Must be familiar with established methods and techniques.
  • Must be familiar with plant standard operating procedures, policies, and standards, including current good manufacturing practices, good laboratory practices, International Organization for Standardization standards, and safety standards.
  • Must maintain proficiency in instrument and equipment operation, including maintenance.
  • Must maintain proper good laboratory practice and technique for handling laboratory reagents and instrumentation.
  • Must practice current data integrity standards.
  • Must have 2–5 years of directly related work experience.
  • Must have working knowledge of good manufacturing practices, good laboratory practices, International Organization for Standardization standards, Food and Drug Administration guidelines, United States Pharmacopeia, and their applications.
  • Must be proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must regularly use hands to perform laboratory tasks and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently stand, sit, and reach, and occasionally walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell.
  • Must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate current test methods for improvements.
  • Write and perform test method and laboratory equipment re-qualifications and validations.
  • Write scientific reports and summaries.
  • Perform testing supporting product release and special projects.
  • Work on method improvement and support laboratory management on special projects.
  • Assist laboratory management in training employees.
  • Assist laboratory management in out-of-specification investigations.
  • Write reports and keep test methods up to date.
  • Investigate new techniques to improve existing testing methods and laboratory practices as required.
  • Maintain good documentation practices for forms, protocol reports, and laboratory notebooks.
  • Work with and provide input to the laboratory supervisor and technicians regarding product issues and general laboratory performance.
  • Act as a laboratory liaison with other departments as required.
  • Observe good housekeeping practices in compliance with Food and Drug Administration and International Organization for Standardization standards.
  • Provide assistance to junior-level staff with general tasks requiring a better understanding of functions, as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Refer to senior-level staff for assistance with higher-level problems as needed.
  • Escalate issues to a supervisor or manager for resolution as necessary.
  • Assist with various projects assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
