About the Position

We’re looking for an experienced Incident Responder to join our Cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate would have experience being both a technical resource as well as an incident commander during real-world engagements, and would be very interested in mentoring and growing the IR and IC abilities of the people around them.

Our Cybersecurity team is a skilled group of engineers, analysts, and specialists who are dedicated to keeping the firm safe. We think thoughtfully about our approach to security, and have invested in custom protection and detection controls and investigation and incident response tooling. We have, as a result, kept major incidents down to a minimum.

That means we don’t get a lot of live practice dealing with widespread incidents (and we hope to keep it that way). So, in the absence of the real thing, we’re looking for a seasoned veteran to help new team members develop the necessary skills, and to help keep those of us with existing IR skills and experience in shape.

We’re looking for someone who is interested in sharing their learned experience, growing the capabilities of the team as a whole, and improving the team’s ability to handle cyber incidents. The candidate should also be open to working with and improving on our team’s custom stack and tools, as well as Jane Street’s firm-wide incident response processes and tooling. 

About You

• Experience handling major cyber incidents in a primarily Windows environment, experience in a heavily mixed Linux/Windows environment a plus
• Experience performing the role of Incident Commander, coordinating incident response across multiple internal cross-functional teams and external parties
• Has the technical knowledge to direct our response team and prioritize resources during an incident
• Can identify and deliver on opportunities to improve our incident response and incident management capabilities
• Ability and desire to teach the people around you based on the experience you have, via tabletops, drills, and simulated incidents
• Excited to expand and grow your understanding of the environment around you, the work of your teammates, and our collective team goals
• Intellectually curious and eager to learn
• Reliable and flexible team player with a positive attitude
• Fluency in English required
