Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • For the Medical Assistant II level, candidates must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program, graduated from a Medical Assistant training program with an externship, or have at least three years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • At least three years of experience as a Medical Assistant is required for the Medical Assistant II level.
  • Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant is required.
  • Basic Life Support authorization must be obtained within 90 days of employment and maintained throughout employment.
  • One year of relevant healthcare experience is required for the Medical Assistant I level.
  • One to two years of experience in a clinical ambulatory care setting is preferred for the Medical Assistant I and Medical Assistant II levels.
Responsibilities
  • Assist providers with in-office procedures, including instrument and supply setup, wound care support, dressing changes, and suture or staple removal as directed.
  • Accurately obtain and document age- and condition-specific measurements, including vital signs, height, weight, and pulse oximetry.
  • Support perioperative workflow through patient education, post-procedure instructions, and coordination of follow-up care as directed.
  • Obtain, document, and process specimens using the appropriate collection process and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Perform rooming activities for provider visits, including documenting the chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, medication list review, tobacco history, last menstrual period, health maintenance overrides, and other required information.
  • Prepare electronic visit charts based on daily scheduled appointments, ensuring diagnostic results, emergency or urgent care reports, operative reports, discharge summaries, consultation and primary care provider notes, and other relevant records are accessible to the provider.
  • Process medication prescription refills according to guidelines using telephonic, electronic, or print methods.
  • Handle prior authorization processes for medications and procedures and document them appropriately.
  • Maintain clinical supplies and inventory, including proper storage, organization, and appropriate par levels to support clinic operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years of experience in a clinical ambulatory care setting is preferred for the Medical Assistant I and Medical Assistant II levels.
  • Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification is preferred for the Medical Assistant I level.
