  • Candidates must take Epic exam and pass/qualify prior to being considered for this position

  • 1 year healthcare experience preferred

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple activities of varying complexity while under time constraints

Responsibilities
  • Provide project management for various levels of projects requiring Information Services & Technology involvement
  • Responsible for proficient use of project management tools, ability to perform time and cost estimates, detail analysis, specification, development, implementation, integration and maintenance of the assigned set of systems and programs
  • Determines (or assists in determining) all tasks and appropriate timetables for each project to accurately anticipate timelines of day-to-day activities and projects
  • Work with programmer(s) and/or solutions vendor to implement design specifications
  • Assign (or assists in assigning) tasks to project team members to ensure that the most appropriate person or department is responsible for achieving goals
  • Update superiors and associates of any problems that may affect the time constraints of a project and on the status of projects and action items to ensure delivery and coordination across teams
  • Develops detailed test plans and completes rigorous testing
  • Budget reconciliation of projects
  • Provide technical assistance and training to user staff and to programming and operations personnel
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge and understanding of applications managed by the team
  • Other duties as assigned

Dan Weatherly named Cape Fear Valley Health CEO.

Dan Weatherly named Cape Fear Valley Health CEO. Contributed Cape Fear Valley Health has named Dan Weatherly as its chief executive officer, the system announced Thursday. He was serving as interim CEO after the retirement announcement of longtime CEO Michael Nagowski. Bladen County Hospital and several community clinics in the county are part of Cape Fear Valley Health. Weatherly has been with Cape Fear Valley Health since 2011 and currently serves as president of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He brings more than a decade of leadership experience within the organization, including his role as chief operating officer since 2016. As CEO, Weatherly will lead one of the region's largest private, nonprofit academic health systems, which includes multiple hospitals, nearly 9,500 employees and several residency programs. He will oversee systemwide operations while continuing to guide growth, innovation and patient care across the region. "It's truly an honor to step into this role and continue serving our community," Weatherly said. "The care we provide every day is made possible by everyone involved, from our clinical to our non-clinical teams, including our physicians, nurses and CNAs, our Environmental Services staff who keep our patients' rooms clean and safe, and our Food and Nutrition Services teams who help nourish and care for our patients. I'm grateful to work alongside such a dedicated group and look forward to continuing that progress together." He began his healthcare career as a physician relations manager and quickly advanced into key leadership roles. As COO, Weatherly oversaw operations across all hospital sites, including emergency services, physician practices, surgical services, imaging, EMS and behavioral health. He also played an important role in leading the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, Cape Fear Valley Health has expanded services, strengthened partnerships and advanced its role as a regional academic health system. Weatherly said the organization will remain focused on workforce development, education and long-term sustainability. "We are investing in the future of healthcare right here in our region," he said. "From expanding our workforce pipeline to advancing our partnerships with local colleges and universities to supporting the development of a new school of medicine, we are creating opportunities that will strengthen care for generations to come." He added that maintaining strong community connections will remain central to the organization's mission. "Our commitment is simple: to continue serving this community with compassion, excellence and integrity," Weatherly said. "As we grow, we will stay grounded in what matters most - improving the health and well-being of every patient and every family we serve." Weatherly holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of South Florida and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in healthcare administration from the University of St. Francis.

Tart is a native of Harnett County and has been a dedicated member of the Cape Fear Valley Health family for more than 10 years. During his time with the organization, he has served in several key leadership roles, including VP of Ambulatory Services, executive director of Cape Fear Valley Medical Group and director of Finance for Ambulatory Services. Most recently, he has served as president of Cape Fear Valley Harnett Healthcare and president of Cape Fear Valley Highsmith Rainey Specialty Hospital. In each of these positions, Michael has played an important role in strengthening operations, supporting clinical teams and advancing access to care for the communities Bizfayetteville serve. Tart is known for his collaborative leadership style, strong operational insight and commitment to the health system's mission. His experience across both financial and clinical operations brings valuable perspective as he steps into this interim role. Cape Fear Valley Health CEO Nagowski to retire. Contributed - February 8, 2026 Cape Fear Valley Health chief executive officer Michael Nagowski announced Jan. 30 that he plans to retire effective July 1. Bladen County Hospital and clinics in Bladenboro, Clarkton, Dublin, Elizabethtown and White Lake are part of the Cape Fear Valley Health system. Also, under Nagowski's guidance, Cape Fear Valley Health made a $1 million investment in Bladen Community College to strengthen workforce development programs. Cape Fear Valley Health's executive committee, acting on behalf of the Board of Trustees, named Chief Operating Officer Dan Weatherly as interim chief executive officer, effective immediately, with Nagowski helping with his transition. Weatherly has served as COO since 2015 and also serves as president of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, the system's flagship hospital. "Cape Fear Valley is a much more progressive and responsive health system under Mike's vision and leadership than it was 18 years ago," said Dan Weatherly, Chief Operating Officer and President of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. "When a leader retires, the hope is that he leaves the organization stronger than when he arrived. The growth and progress we enjoy today are a direct result of Mike's hard work." Weatherly joined Cape Fear Valley Health in 2011 as director of outpatient operations and has more than 25 years of experience in health care leadership. Nagowski has served as CEO since 2008, guiding Cape Fear Valley Health's growth from a county hospital into a fully integrated system that now includes eight hospitals and nearly 100 care sites serving multiple counties across southeastern North Carolina. His tenure has been defined by strategic expansion, system integration and a steadfast commitment to ensuring access to high-quality care close to home. Under his leadership, Cape Fear Valley Health significantly expanded its role in medical education and workforce development. Nagowski fulfilled a long-standing commitment to establish graduate medical education programs, resulting in residency programs across several disciplines with approximately 330 physicians currently in training. Nagowski also played a key role in forming a landmark partnership with Methodist University to establish the Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine. The new medical school represents a major investment in addressing physician shortages and expanding access to care for future generations. His leadership extended to major infrastructure and service enhancements designed to meet the region's growing health care needs. Nagowski oversaw the vertical expansion of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center's Valley Pavilion, adding new patient floors, 100 beds and increased hospital capacity. The project included rooftop helipads to improve emergency access and patient transport efficiency while strengthening critical care delivery. Beyond hospital operations, Nagowski championed strategic partnerships and community investments centered on education, workforce development and wellness. Along with the Bladen Community College investment, Cape Fear Valley Health made commitments to the region, including a $2 million investment in Fayetteville Technical Community College to support nursing and allied health education and a $2 million investment in Fayetteville State University to advance education and workforce initiatives. An additional $900,000 supported student health and wellness facilities at Fayetteville State University.
