Requirements
  • 8+ years of marketing and/or communications management experience with a heavy focus working in media relations.
  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, PR, journalism or related field.
  • A deep understanding of the global traditional and new media landscape and how editorial decisions are made.
  • Proven track record of securing high-impact executive interviews across broadcast, digital, podcasts, and traditional media.
  • A knack for synthesizing global, regional and local news cycle trends with executive voices and perspective.
  • Experience with media coaching and the presence to influence and give counsel to executives.
  • The management skills to manage budgets, track ROI, and optimise resources.
Responsibilities
  • Support executive engagements at an international level managing continuous, always-on media relations and broader networks of influence, and supporting major initiatives, executive visits, and key events.
  • Enhance Cisco spokesperson visibility across top-tier international broadcast, podcast, digital, and traditional media channels.
  • Stay closely connected to evolving industry conversation to identify opportunities that position Cisco in priority areas including AI, Networking and Security.
  • Develop ongoing plans that encompass the full sphere of influence, staying ahead of industry trends in media, digital storytelling, and influencer engagement.
  • Serve as a centre of excellence for media relations by sharing insights, opportunities and messaging and content that supports the team’s leading across international countries.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on the impact of executive media engagements using analytics tools; recommend adjustments to maximize impact.

Cisco acquires Galileo to strengthen Splunk's AI observability capabilities

Cisco is acquiring Galileo, an AI observability specialist, to strengthen Splunk's position in the AI monitoring market. The deal is expected to close in July 2026. Galileo provides tools to evaluate AI output quality, detect errors before they reach users, and improve AI agent behaviour in production. The platform monitors hallucinations, bias, security risks and cost metrics across the entire agent development lifecycle, offering real-time observability for multi-agent systems. The acquisition will integrate Galileo into Splunk Observability Cloud, expanding existing AI agent monitoring capabilities. Galileo offers over 20 evaluation metrics including hallucination detection and supports major AI platforms like OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock. Cisco and Galileo previously collaborated on Cisco's AGNTCY initiative. Both companies will operate independently until the deal closes.

Cisco appoints former Deloitte executive Pete Shimer to board of directors
