Requirements
  • An LPN or RN degree is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The candidate must be in good standing and currently licensed by the State of Alabama.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • The candidate must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • General computer knowledge of facility computers is preferred.
  • The candidate must demonstrate communication skills for all populations served.
  • The candidate must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate with long-term-care residents.
  • The candidate must be able to talk, hear, walk, stoop, push, pull, stand, crouch, and maintain good balance for extended periods.
  • The candidate must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • The candidate must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.
  • Physical presence onsite is essential.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for assigned residents.
  • Assess resident physical, behavioral, psychosocial, developmental, and age-specific conditions and plan care according to identified problems.
  • Use the nursing process to provide all levels of direct resident care.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures.
  • Use communication and documentation skills to ensure proper plans of care from physicians and other disciplines.
  • Ensure nursing assistants provide quality care and perform their duties according to each resident's plan of care and the facility policy and procedure manual.
  • Perform duties according to established standards of practice for adults and geriatric residents.
  • Provide services in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Perform compliance requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Adhere to DCH Behavioral Standards and create positive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, colleagues, and self.
  • Use electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the intranet.
  • Adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Lift at least 50 pounds and turn and position residents weighing over 300 pounds.
