Requirements
  • Two years of experience working as a solar installer or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a construction setting.
  • Working knowledge of solar photovoltaic construction craft and the assembly, installation, or maintenance of ground- or roof-mounted solar photovoltaic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications and visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency.
  • Ability to safely evaluate work and use appropriate hand tools and power tools for the work being performed.
  • Ability to use effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to listen to co-workers' suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations, understand the points being made, ask questions, and provide feedback when appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessments and schematics.
  • Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to install photovoltaic systems in accordance with codes, standards, drawings, schematics, and instructions.
  • Lay out, assemble, and install solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified.
  • Apply weather sealing to arrays, buildings, or support mechanisms.
  • Identify methods for laying out, orienting, and mounting modules or arrays for efficient installation, electrical configuration, or system maintenance.
  • Identify and resolve deficiencies in photovoltaic system installations or materials.
  • Install required labels on solar system components and hardware.
  • Install active solar systems, including solar collectors, concentrators, pumps, or fans.
  • Activate photovoltaic systems to verify functionality and conformity to performance expectations.
  • Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies; clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas; mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials.
  • Bend, cut, thread, join, wrap, and seal sections of rigid or polyvinyl chloride conduit.
  • Install power whips and harnesses; drive stakes; and perform cleaning, compacting, grading, painting, sanding, or stripping operations.
  • Compile or maintain records of system operation, performance, and maintenance.
  • Perform routine non-machine tasks, including removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, digging, and spreading and leveling dirt and gravel using a pick, shovel, and wheelbarrow.
  • Take reasonable care of personal and others' health and safety and exercise stop-work authority until safety issues are resolved.
  • Report accidents and near misses to a supervisor and participate in investigations as needed.
  • Participate in pre-job work planning and safety discussions; identify hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or mitigate them.
  • Understand and respond appropriately to safety hazards and warning devices.
  • Understand, support, and follow lockout/tagout procedures and attend site-specific training.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  • Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job.
  • Provide on-the-job training or mentoring to helpers and laborers.
  • Produce quality work that meets plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Develop a complete understanding of assigned contract plans and specifications and plan, lay out, diagram, and install equipment.
  • Inspect helpers' work for compliance with contract plans, specifications, and industry standards; identify deficiencies, explain them, and take corrective action.
  • Observe installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement; notify supervision of hazards and use stop-work authority as needed.
  • Examine and inspect field conditions, identify problems and inaccuracies, and implement corrective actions while reporting issues to supervision.
  • Operate and maintain construction equipment safely when certified, ensure it is in good working order, and complete daily equipment inspections.
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills when requested by project supervision.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by a supervisor.

MasTec has priced a public offering of $650 million in senior notes due 2036. The notes will carry a 5.850% interest rate, payable semi-annually, and were priced at 99.656%. They will mature on 30 September 2036. The company intends to use the net proceeds primarily to repay some or all of its $600 million term loan, which matures on 26 June 2028, and to cover related fees and expenses. Any remaining proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, potentially including repayment of existing debt under its senior unsecured credit facility.
