Requirements
- Written, verbal, and spoken fluency in English and Spanish.
- Between 5-9 years of work experience at a PR firm or similar.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Creative Writing, Spanish, International Relations, or Political Science.
- Experience working with reporters and established media contacts.
- A demonstrated and keen interest in politics, advocacy, and public policy.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Possess linguistic and cultural sensitivity to work on issues through the lens of how they impact/affect communities of color.
- Possess strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Have strong writing and proofreading skills in English and Spanish.
- Present and conduct yourself professionally on and offline with teammates, clients, members of the press, stakeholders, vendors, and other external parties.
- A demonstrated capacity for leadership, communication, adaptability, resourcefulness, teamwork and collegiality within a tight-knit team.
Responsibilities
- Deeply understand the clients’ subject matter(s) and the nature of the daily news cycle to help identify effective PR and media opportunities.
- Serve as day-to-day coordinator on diverse roster of client accounts and/or sub-projects.
- Manage multiple projects, including task and deadline tracking, for multiple clients from concept to completion.
- Monitor the daily news cycle, set up search alerts, and collect relevant clips as needed for internal distribution.
- Draft & distribute press materials, including op-eds and press releases.
- Cultivate media relations with contacts in national, regional, and local media.
- Assist with group media training and one-on-one media prep sessions for clients as needed.
- Develop pitches, field media inquiries, and secure placements for clients in Spanish-language and Latino-focused media.
- Monitor, gather, analyze, and disseminate electronic media clip reports for internal and external distribution.
- Manage social and owned media activities on behalf of clients, including content calendars, drafting content for all channels, analyzing user engagement and post-performance, and counseling clients as needed.
- Manage the logistics of translations, which includes translating and reviewing translations of press materials and other communications documents as needed.
- Use cultural competency as needed for ongoing client projects.
- Track billable client hours on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and or yearly basis.
- Oversee interns' and help with other team members’ work as needed, providing input and guidance to ensure they are contributing to the overall scope of work.
- Demonstrate strong client-relations skills – responsive, professional, helpful.
