Requirements
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role supervising multiple shifts.
  • Willingness to relocate for growth or advancement opportunities.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime, to cover absences or provide additional support.
  • Approximately 10% overnight travel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to solve problems individually and collaboratively.
  • Proven success in leading teams to resolve specific problems.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control, Six Sigma, 5S, single-minute exchange of die, and lean manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and financial aspects of manufacturing.
  • Ability to develop talent for progression within the organization.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Required close, distance, and color vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a plant and office environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicular traffic, varying temperatures, and frequently loud noise.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, direct, and coordinate personnel activities related to production.
  • Manage product technology, production methods and procedures, standards, and machine and equipment capabilities.
  • Directly support the plant manager in all aspects of daily plant operations and assume the acting plant manager's duties and responsibilities when needed.
  • Interact with plant management to establish production and quality standards.
  • Plan and direct production activities and priorities for products in accordance with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, production planning, safety, and quality control activities to optimize employee and equipment resources.
  • Review and analyze production to determine causes of nonconformity with production specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures to eliminate operational problems and improve product quality through collaboration with appropriate parties.
  • Communicate and coordinate with engineering to modify machines and equipment to improve production and product quality.
  • Revise production schedules as necessary.
  • Communicate and coordinate changes in schedules, production, or procedures to all shifts and employees.
  • Manage the performance and development of direct reports.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Packaging industry experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
  • A master's degree.
