23,000 products sold under Sysco, Gordon FS recalled for plastic risk. Greenville News Feb. 18, 2026, 3:43 p.m. ET * Ventura Foods is recalling over 23,000 peanut butter products across 41 states due to possible plastic contamination. * The recall affects single-serve creamy peanut butter and twin packs with jelly sold under brands like Sysco and Gordon Food Service. * The FDA has classified this as a Class II recall, indicating a risk of temporary or medically reversible health issues. * Consumers are advised to check lot codes and either discard the products or return them to the supplier. More than 23,000 peanut butter products sold in South Carolina and 39 other states are being recalled for possible plastic contamination. The affected products were produced by Ventura Foods and sold under multiple brands, according to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration notice. The recall was initiated in April 2025 after blue plastic was found in a filter during production, but the FDA classified it as a Class II recall Feb. 12. The classifications mean use of or exposure to a recalled product could cause "temporary or medically reversible" adverse health effects, according to the agency. Here's what South Carolina shoppers should know about the recall. What products are being recalled? Gordon Food service donates truck to ECTC's diesel program. Gordon Food Services recently donated a 2016 Volvo Day cab truck to Elizabethtown Community and Technical College's diesel technology program. This makes the second semi-truck donated by GFS and joins previous donations of a tow dolly and two trailers, a news release from the college said. "With this donation, our students can train on industry-specific equipment," Diesel Program Coordinator Joe Valora said in the release. "The support from Gordon Food Services means students will have the skills and training to be workforce-ready from day one." Valora noted that the college's partnership with GFS goes back more than a decade. "The relationships we have with all of our industry partners are valuable and a large part of why our program is so successful," Valora said in the release. "They take an active interest in what our students are working on, and when they see a need, they help fulfill it." The relationship is mutually beneficial, GFS Fleet Manager Bob Favour said. "It's a pleasure for us to partner with ECTC in any way we can," Favour said in the release. "Doing so directly helps us build a strong pipeline of skilled technicians for our operations.
