Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of assistant manager experience managing a department or team within a multi-department retail or service operation, or two years of department manager experience in a multi-department retail or high-volume service operation.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong customer service and supervisory skills are required.
  • Experience managing perishable inventory is required.
  • A solid understanding of overall store operations is required.
  • The ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills is required.
  • The ability to repeatedly use hands, arms, legs, and feet for sustained action, including walking around the store, stocking, and rotating product, is required.
  • The ability to stand for 100% of the shift and work in a fast-paced environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall operation of the retail grocery store during the Store Director's absence, including store performance, cash, inventory, security, customer service, and staff management.
  • Track, analyze, and act on store performance by forecasting weekly and daily sales goals and meeting or exceeding established goals.
  • Communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to staff.
  • Forecast, schedule, and monitor labor according to store sales, productivity guidelines, and wage budgets, and create action plans for cost-control issues.
  • Support the Store Director in developing and executing strategies to improve product placement and appearance.
  • Monitor display accuracy and appearance, implement promotions, and ensure products are properly displayed and ordered to maintain in-stock conditions.
  • Manage store maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation issues.
  • Oversee cash and accounting procedures and ensure the store is secured.
  • Prioritize, plan, and coordinate work activities and manage time and resources to meet work objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies and procedures, including check cashing, security, safety, sanitation, and wage-and-hour requirements.
  • Ensure employees provide superior customer service through best practices and communication of customer-service expectations.
  • Select, train, develop, and manage the job performance of store employees with assistance from other management personnel.
  • Provide constructive suggestions and encouragement, set performance expectations, provide feedback, and assign developmental opportunities.
  • Maintain professional relationships with union officials and ensure compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with direct reports, peers, supervisors, suppliers, and customers while handling complex or difficult situations.
  • Motivate employees to work toward common objectives and serve as a positive role model.
  • Perform other management duties needed to keep the store functioning effectively.
  • Work on the sales floor managing employees and interacting with customers.
  • Work varied shifts and long hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends, as required by store operations.
Desired Qualifications

Albertsons closes 120-year-old Vons grocery store in California, cuts 65 jobs

Albertsons appoints McDonald's CIO Brian Rice to board, issues $2.1B in notes to fund digital push
