- Serve as the subject matter expert for relational database technologies.
- Document and analyze current-state database environments while promptly coming up to speed.
- Develop comprehensive engineering design documents for database modernization, optimization, and transformation initiatives aligned with the organization's technical vision.
- Lead implementation of enhanced and future-state database architectures.
- Design, deploy, configure, optimize, secure, and maintain database platforms across hybrid environments.
- Collaborate with Network, Storage, Windows and Linux Systems Operating, Cloud, Web Services, Software Development, Information Systems Security Officer, and DevOps engineering teams.
- Partner with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Modelers, Data Scientists, and Data Analysts.
- Ensure high availability, performance tuning, security hardening, and compliance adherence.
- Provide database governance, standards, and best practices across the enterprise.
- Experience with database containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Redgate, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and cloud-native monitoring tools.
- Experience with data replication and distributed systems.
- Experience with data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, and Azure Synapse.
- Experience with extract, transform, and load frameworks and tools.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation.
- Massively Parallel Processing database administration experience.
- Experience with Ansible or similar IT automation tools such as Puppet or Chef.
- Experience supporting federal government compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures.
- Experience supporting mission-critical or high-transaction environments.
