- A bachelor’s degree.
- At least 2–3 years of experience with medical billing software and online claim submission tools.
- Proven experience in medical billing, with a deep understanding of CMS 1500 forms.
- Knowledge of insurance claim processes, including online claim submissions and follow-up.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Have a solid understanding of the CMS 1500 form and its accurate completion for insurance billing.
- Post and manage account payments, including reviewing and processing payments for accuracy.
- Review bills for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all necessary information is included, and obtain missing information as needed.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe to ensure timely resolution of outstanding issues.
- Ensure all insurance payments are accurate and compliant with insurance contract terms.
- Understand the entire medical billing process, including insurance rules and regulations, and enforce and abide by policies and procedures.
- Certification in medical billing and coding, such as CPC or CBCS.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
