Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of related experience
  • Accounting experience with an international non-governmental organization (INGO), including acceptance and reporting against US government (USG) or USG requirement-compliant funding, required
  • USG audit experience required
  • External audit experience required
  • Prior experience in managing accounting staff
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and USG funding requirements
  • Experience with any ERP accounting system (examples: Sage Intacct, SAP, NetSuite)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written, including the ability to deal with a variety of personalities in a professional manner
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Dynamics, Mission CRM, and/or SAP Concur preferred, but not required

Responsibilities
  • Provide thorough, accurate, and complete interim and final reports as required or requested by US government (USG) and USG requirement-compliant donors and funds
  • Responsible for the overall management of month-end, quarterly, and year-end close. Ensure all close tasks are completed, review material account balance fluctuations, and publish month-end results to senior management
  • Ensure accuracy of accounting coding and allocation of expenses and revenue
  • Oversee the accounts payable/disbursement function, including vendor invoices, expense reports, credit/debit card activity, other routine payments, year-end 1099 processing, etc
  • Develop and improve internal controls and processes
  • Provide Finance guidance to the International Medical Operations and Field Leadership team
  • Manage debit and credit card processes for funding operations and training events. Monitor transactions, liaise with financial institutions, manage on- and offboarding of staff and volunteers, etc
  • Support Team Rubicon International with budget and forecasting activities
  • Collaborate with the other department managers to support overall TR goals and objectives
  • Supervise completion of annual financial audit
  • Assist external accountants with annual 990 tax return preparation as needed
  • Perform special projects as needed
