Requirements
  • Must have a current SECRET security clearance.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in the Personnel Security field within a federal agency or federal contracting company.
  • At least 2 years of experience entering and reviewing information within eQIP.
  • 1 year of experience with the Justice Security Tracking and Adjudication Record System (JSTARS) is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clerical assistance for handling, control, logging, and status-tracking of background investigation reports.
  • Provide regular reports of security-related activities and events.
  • Review background investigation reports and assess their adequacy, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Determine the adequacy and completeness of background investigations and develop or collect data/information.
  • Evaluate the authenticity, veracity, and pertinence of data/documentation obtained from various sources.
  • Request additional investigative actions or develop usable information as needed.
  • Create cases in the personnel security database and ensure proper routing of cases.
  • Perform data entry duties related to personnel security processes.
  • Process requests for additional information on security packages and follow up on correspondence received.
  • Conduct investigative checks such as PIPS/CVS checks, credit checks, FBI fingerprint checks, FBI Name Checks, NCIC checks, and selective service registration checks.
  • Answer general security processing inquiries and forward complex inquiries to the appropriate Personnel Security Specialist.
  • Prepare memoranda, reports, and other reference documents.
  • Safeguard sensitive information including Privacy Act Protected Information, Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and Classified National Security Information.
