Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Three years of healthcare experience are required, including one year in a managerial role; internal candidates must have three years of healthcare experience in a relevant field with Houston Methodist performance demonstrating progressive leadership abilities.
  • The employee must have sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential job functions, particularly those affecting patient or employee safety or security.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers through various channels using a customer-service-focused approach.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily clinic activities to maximize patient access and provider efficiency.
  • Develop and support processes that deliver a high-quality patient experience and compliant care and services.
  • Develop staffing structures that support quality care, patient satisfaction, and efficient revenue generation.
  • Oversee daily work activities of department staff and ensure quality, productivity, functional excellence, and efficiency.
  • Train and supervise staff while maintaining adequate staffing levels and budget compliance.
  • Participate in hiring, coach and counsel employees on work-related performance, and support staffing decisions.
  • Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures for a safe and effective work environment.
  • Participate in performance-improvement activities and support department management in achieving operational goals.
  • Participate in employee selection, scheduling, supervision, retention, evaluation, development, and mentoring.
  • Ensure staff are properly trained and comply with department policies and procedures.
  • Conduct new-hire feedback sessions and provide recognition or commendations when appropriate.
  • Maintain collaboration within and between departments and facilitate clear communication and problem resolution.
  • Oversee daily department operations, schedules, workflow, and priorities to support service delivery and patient satisfaction.
  • Oversee staff, physician, and physician-extender schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Support front-desk, billing, and clinical teams and manage clinic referrals related to the practice.
  • Supervise practice operations and implement organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and effective working environment and monitor department safety and accreditation requirements.
  • Use and optimize information systems and participate in performance-improvement and data-management activities.
  • Monitor workflow, report near misses or adverse events, participate in root-cause investigations, and implement safety improvements.
  • Monitor employee compliance with policies and human-resources standards and take associated corrective actions.
  • Assist with compliance audits and ensure staff compliance with privacy and health-information requirements.
  • Manage department expenditures, productivity, supplies, resources, overtime, and staffing to achieve financial targets.
  • Review encounters, create claims, manage workflow dashboards, and oversee purchasing, inventory, expenditures, staffing, and overtime.
  • Monitor charge capture and copayment collections, manage petty-cash batches and deposits, reconcile cash, and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and payroll and oversee reporting and record-keeping functions.
  • Implement operational changes and innovative workflow solutions aligned with organizational and department goals.
  • Develop team-member skills and competencies and conduct staff development conversations.
  • Reinforce electronic practice management and electronic medical record superuser training for staff.
  • The role may require on-call availability during emergencies and travel within the Houston metropolitan area.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Practice Management Certification is preferred.
