Requirements
  • At least 4 years of experience in operations and/or safety in the trucking industry.
  • An associate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build consensus and influence others.
  • Strong collaborative skills and demonstrated ability to develop interpersonal relationships.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Lead improvements that enhance the onboarding experience for all drivers.
  • Evaluate driver managers' ability to plan, guide, and coach new drivers and provide recommended courses of action to Terminal Managers.
  • Provide high-level analytical support to Terminal Managers for driver development initiatives supporting safety and retention goals.
  • Oversee assigned Driver Qualification Process Facilitators, ensuring appropriate staffing and operation within budget constraints.
  • Ensure assigned employees have career development plans that build bench strength for future leaders and specialized individual contributors.
  • Track metrics for each Driver Qualification Process Facilitator and guide improvements supporting each new-hire driver's progression through training to solo-driver status.
  • Ensure completion of driver files, reference verification, compliance-related testing, and other pre-hire activities to facilitate hiring.
  • Maintain the organization's road examination process, including developing a group of qualified examiners.
  • Maintain status as a Department of Transportation and non-Department of Transportation qualified collector for hair and/or urine sample collections.
  • Build relationships with Driving Associates, support and recognize performance, and assist the team in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Develop strategies and sponsor initiatives to foster positive driver support and improve driver retention, and assist with onboarding new drivers as needed.
  • Evaluate driver satisfaction, retention, and turnover and assist in increasing retention and reducing turnover.
  • Review driver safety reports and direct activities to improve safety outcomes while coaching Driving Associates to ensure terminal safety expectations are met.
  • Promote good relations with internal and external customers by coaching and supporting employees in resolving safety problems.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze information on breakdowns and procedures, and develop solutions to facilitate on-time completion of equipment services in the shop.
  • Counsel Driving Associates on high-risk behaviors, consult on corrective action, and recommend action up to and including termination of a driver's employment.
  • Assist others in achieving organizational objectives.
