Augment Code builds an AI-powered coding platform that helps developers and engineering teams understand code, debug issues, and accelerate software delivery. It works by analyzing a team’s existing codebase to provide context-aware in-line code completions, guidance, and planning through an AI agent, with features like chat, code completion, and next-edit suggestions. The platform integrates into popular IDEs such as VSCode, JetBrains, and Vim, as well as Slack, enabling personalized assistance within a team’s existing workflow. The goal is to improve developer productivity and speed up software shipping through a subscription-based tool that supports planning, coding, debugging, and collaboration.

Augment Code, a Palo Alto-based startup valued at approximately $1.4 billion, has raised $227 million in Series B funding to develop AI agents that autonomously write code for extended periods. The round was led by Sutter Hill Ventures, with participation from Index Ventures, Lightspeed and Innovation Endeavors. The company's AI agent, Auggie, is designed to handle complex engineering projects across days or weeks without constant human intervention. Its proprietary Context Engine indexes up to 500,000 files across multiple repositories, enabling it to understand relationships across entire codebases. Enterprise customers report completing projects in two weeks that were originally estimated to take four to eight months. Augment Code has reached approximately $20 million in annual recurring revenue and employs around 188 people. The company faces intense competition from Cursor, GitHub Copilot and other well-funded rivals.

Augment Code and Xoriant partner to drive enterprise growth with AI development. Augment Code and Xoriant form partnership to accelerate enterprise growth with ai-driven development. Sunnyvale, CA & Mumbai, India, 29th October, 2025: In a pivotal move redefining enterprise software engineering, Xoriant, a premier digital engineering company, announces a strategic partnership with Augment Code, a leading innovator in AI-powered software development space. This strategic partnership is set to reshape how enterprises rapidly realize growth through AI-native development processes, achieving 50% faster time-to-market for software products, 75% reduction in development costs. Today's enterprises grapple with managing and modernizing massive, complex codebases. These are often built over years, across diverse languages, tools, and legacy systems. Powered by investments from Innovation Endeavors, Index Ventures, Sutter Hill Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Meritech Capital, Augment Code's AI platform is powered by its context engine which uniquely addresses these challenges. It enables architectural explorations, seamless reverse engineering, code refactoring, issue triaging and remediation, as well as accelerated migration from legacy systems to modern technologies - like React, Java, .NET, and cloud platforms thereby quickly reducing its tech debt. The Augment Code and Xoriant partnership goes beyond adopting new technology. It leverages Xoriant's deep product engineering DNA, proven modernization frameworks, and hands-on experience in enterprise-scale transformation and Augment's expertise in AI-powered coding. With Augment Code, Xoriant now offers 'Xoriant AI Pods' to its customers, a collaboration that has already demonstrated significant impact: * Over 90% time reduction in UI and application modernization projects, even within highly complex, legacy environments. * Up to 75% faster development of microservices-based ecosystems in languages like Go, Java, and C++. * Up to 95% efficiency in embedded test automation and intelligent root cause analysis for mission-critical systems. "Augment Code has rapidly emerged as a trusted leader in AI-driven code generation, earning the confidence of some of the world's most forward-thinking enterprises. We see our partnership with them as more than a technology collaboration. It's a shared vision for building the future of digital-native businesses. By integrating Augment Code's AI-native platform into our digital engineering ecosystem, we're enabling both technical and business teams to move faster, reduce complexity, and unlock entirely new value streams," said Pramod Murthy, SVP & Head of Engineering, Cloud & Security, Xoriant. "Software engineering, particularly at scale, remains one of the most complex and friction-laden challenges in the enterprise world. At Augment Code, our vision is to fundamentally transform that experience through AI that doesn't just assist, but actively collaborates. Our platform empowers teams to build high-quality software faster, more intelligently, and with far less operational drag. Xoriant's commitment to accelerating businesses to be digital-native aligns perfectly with our mission and together, we're enabling a future where software creation is not a bottleneck, but a catalyst for organizational agility, innovation potential, and growth. The partnership demonstrates what's possible when world-class AI meets world class engineering," said Matt McClernan, CEO, Augment Code. According to McKinsey, generative AI could add up to USD 4.4 trillion annually to the global economy, with software engineering among its most profoundly impacted sectors. The Xoriant - Augment Code alliance brings this potential directly to engineering and business leaders charged with building resilient, future-ready organizations.

Augment Code, an AI coding assistant startup, unveiled its new “Augment Agent” technology today, designed to tackle the complexity of large software engineering projects rather than simple code generation. The company claims its approach represents a significant departure from other AI coding tools by focusing on helping developers navigate and modify large, established codebases that span millions of lines of code across multiple repositories. The company also announced it has achieved the highest score to date on SWE-bench verified, an industry benchmark for AI coding capabilities, by combining Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 3.7 with OpenAI’s O1 reasoning model.“Most work in the coding AI space, which is clearly a hot sector, has focused on what people call ‘zero to one’ or ‘vibe coding’ – starting with nothing and producing a piece of software by the end of the session,” said Scott Dietzen, CEO of Augment Code, in an exclusive interview with VentureBeat. “What we targeted instead is the software engineering discipline of maintaining big, complex systems — databases, networking stacks, storage — codebases that have evolved over many years with hundreds of developers working on them collaboratively.”Founded in 2022, Augment Code has raised $270 million in total funding, including a $227 million Series B round announced in April 2024 at a post-money valuation of $977 million. The company’s investors include Sutter Hill Ventures, Index Ventures, Innovation Endeavors (led by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt), Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Meritech Capital
