Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive HR or People Business Partner experience, with a substantial portion at a senior or Staff-equivalent level supporting complex, cross-functional organizations, specifically G&A or corporate functions such as Finance.
  • A demonstrated track record of advising C-suite leaders directly in high-growth SaaS or technology companies.
  • Deep expertise across organizational design, executive coaching, employee relations and investigations, workforce planning, talent strategy, and performance management.
  • Strong business and financial literacy, including understanding budgets, headcount plans, and planning cycles well enough to partner credibly with a CFO.
  • The judgment and self-awareness to partner the People function itself with peer-level credibility, clear boundaries with Centers of Excellence, and the candor to challenge the function.
  • Superior knowledge of employment law across multiple jurisdictions, including cross-border and international employment contexts.
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and influencing skills across boardroom, sensitive employee, and People team contexts.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the principal People advisor to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief People Officer on consequential organizational decisions.
  • Partner with the Office of the Chief Executive Officer on company-wide priorities, operating rhythm, and executive-level initiatives.
  • Drive the People strategy for Finance, People, and the Office of the Chief Executive Officer with a multi-year lens.
  • Influence company-wide People priorities by translating patterns, risks, and opportunities into organizational recommendations.
  • Anticipate second- and third-order organizational effects of strategic decisions and proactively shape plans.
  • Prepare and support executives for board, audit committee, and leadership forums involving people, organizational, or workforce topics.
  • Lead complex, multi-phase organizational design efforts, including operating model transformation, large-scale restructures, and integration of newly formed or acquired teams.
  • Advise on organizational architecture, including spans and layers, structural interdependencies, shared-service models, and team operating norms.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief People Officer to design scalable organizations while balancing cost discipline and capability.
  • Partner with leaders to evolve organizational models in response to growth, market shifts, or strategic pivots.
  • Apply a systems-level lens to identify root causes and structural solutions to organizational challenges.
  • Partner with Talent Management and Talent Development to support leadership development, manager capability, and team effectiveness programs.
  • Provide ongoing executive coaching to senior leaders up to and including Vice Presidents and C-suite leaders across Finance, People, and the Office of the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Coach the Chief Financial Officer's and Chief People Officer's leadership teams on shared operating norms, ownership clarity, and healthy conflict.
  • Identify senior-level leadership development needs and create tailored development plans with Talent Development.
  • Lead or co-design senior leadership team effectiveness engagements, including offsites, team diagnostics, and sustained effectiveness programs.
  • Support succession conversations and contribute to executive talent assessments.
  • Model coaching practices for the broader People Business Partner team by sharing frameworks, approaches, and lessons from complex leadership situations.
  • Advise on and lead sensitive, high-complexity, or high-risk employee relations matters.
  • Lead or oversee complex investigations and ensure outcomes are fair, legally sound, and consistent with organizational values and obligations.
  • Handle matters involving senior leaders and executive conduct with discretion, including conflicts of interest involving the People function.
  • Partner with Legal Counsel on significant organizational risk, executive conduct, or legal exposure.
  • Develop and champion employee relations frameworks, investigation standards, and escalation protocols across the People team.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment law across relevant jurisdictions, including cross-border and international employment contexts.
  • Shape the design and execution of People programs covering performance management, talent calibration, succession planning, and total rewards alignment.
  • Lead workforce planning for Finance, People, and the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, connecting headcount planning, organizational design, and financial planning cycles.
  • Contribute senior-level assessments of leader readiness, critical role risk, and organizational capability gaps in talent reviews.
  • Define the capabilities, headcount, and structures needed one to two years ahead based on executive strategy.
  • Act as a senior practitioner role model within the People Business Partner team.
  • Mentor and coach Senior and mid-level People Business Partners and review approaches on complex cases.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the People operating model by identifying gaps, proposing structural improvements, and piloting new approaches.
  • Develop playbooks, standards, and shared tools to drive consistency in People Business Partner practice quality.
  • Connect the People team and the business by translating business needs into team capability and capacity investments.
  • Use people data to develop predictive insight and identify organizational risk proactively.
  • Synthesize engagement, attrition, performance, diversity, equity and inclusion, and workforce trend data to assess organizational health.
  • Partner with Finance and People Analytics to connect people data with financial and operational metrics.
  • Develop and present executive-ready People insights that influence business strategy.
  • Establish and champion data standards and reporting practices across the People Business Partner team.

  • Experience aligning workforce planning with financial planning cycles in a disciplined, high-growth environment.

CallRail has expanded its partnership with Clio, integrating its Voice Assist AI tool with Clio Grow and Clio Manage platforms. The integration enables law firms to handle inbound calls and texts 24/7 using AI that can recognise existing clients, qualify new leads, and book consultations automatically. Voice Assist pulls client information from Clio to personalise interactions, greeting returning callers by name and skipping previously answered intake questions. For new callers, it runs standard intake procedures and creates contacts in Clio with full marketing attribution. The system schedules consultations directly into Clio Manage without requiring human intervention, including after-hours calls. CallRail serves more than 225,000 businesses worldwide. The integration is now available to law firms.

Clio acquires Jurisage to fuel AI expansion with Canada's largest legal database

Burnaby, BC-based Clio has acquired Toronto legaltech firm Jurisage to bolster its AI capabilities in Canada. The deal gives Clio access to one of Canada's most comprehensive AI-ready legal datasets, covering over 470,000 cases across more than 40 courts. Jurisage's 10-person team is joining Clio, which recently surpassed $500 million USD in annual recurring revenue and holds a $5-billion valuation. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition addresses gaps in Clio's Canadian legal database following its $1-billion USD purchase of vLex in 2025, which offered limited Canadian coverage. A recent Clio report found that 95 per cent of Canadian lawyers are using AI in their work. The move comes as foreign competitors like Harvey and Legora expand into the Canadian market.

Clio, a Canadian law firm management software company, has reached $500 million in annual recurring revenue, driven by AI integration. The 18-year-old company surpassed $200 million ARR in mid-2024 and doubled that figure by late last year. CEO Jack Newton argues legal tech is poised to become a major AI winner, citing the wealth of contracts and agreements that provide training data for large language models.
