Requirements
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience with Linux server administration.
  • Expertise administering high-performance computing clusters, Lustre, OpenStack cloud, network functions virtualization, and big data hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of computer diagnostics, installation, hardware and software troubleshooting, and networking.
  • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure components, including running network cables and installing servers in equipment racks.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, network interface card installation, switches, routers, and similar components.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide effective solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to lift 1U and 2U rack-mounted servers weighing up to 35 pounds, and familiarity with Rack Jacks and general data center safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for custom operating system and application installations.
  • Knowledge of data center power systems, including PDU and 120/240V systems.
  • Knowledge of wire and cable management.
  • Knowledge of IP-KVM.
Responsibilities
  • Perform general server administration tasks.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Develop operational workflows.
  • Manage system enhancements and upgrades and provide various levels of support.
  • Lead technical efforts for software upgrades, patch updates, and data migration for server software.
  • Apply configuration and tuning standards in accordance with Linux recommendations and client requirements.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation for lab and data center configurations, server software configurations, and customizations.
  • Conduct system performance analysis and implement performance improvements in collaboration with architects, engineers, and network engineers.
  • Maintain and audit lab assets and perform routine inventory control.
