Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) or Physician Assistant program
  • National certification as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Idaho (or ability to obtain prior to start). No litigation or disciplinary actions may be pending against the incumbent
  • Current DEA Registration (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Current Controlled Substance License (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Willingness to work weekends as part of a three 12-hour patient-facing shift, or part of a four 10-hour shift
Responsibilities
  • Provides care to patients through diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic problems in accordance with standards of care as described in Principles of Practice, protocols, and scope of practice as approved by supervising physician and Board of Medicine
  • Consults with other clinic providers, specialists, and health care professionals as appropriate
  • Directs and guides support staff in delivering coordinated patient care
  • Collaborates with other health care providers as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Maintains system of quality assessment and assurance in accordance with quality assurance plan
  • Participates in program planning, development, implementation and evaluation relating to specific job, clinic, and program functions that occur during regular business hours regardless of scheduled, patient-facing days in clinic
  • Participates in staff meetings, conferences, and in-service training and continuing education
  • May be asked to participate in a shared call system with other providers that occur during regular business hours regardless of scheduled, patient-facing days in clinic
  • Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation in patient records, including providing appropriate code level and diagnosis of patient visits using CPT and ICD-10 coding standards
  • Counsels and educates patients and family members regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and need for follow-up as appropriate for each visit, and verifies and documents the patient’s understanding of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up recommendations
  • Performs minor procedures and in-house laboratory work in accordance with Heritage Health policy and qualifications
  • Practices safety, environmental, and infection control methods
  • Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities
  • May be required to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations
  • Must work as part of Heritage Health Patient Centered Medical Home Care Team
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • 2 or more years of experience as a primary care provider is preferred
  • Urgent care experience is preferred but not required
