Requirements
  • 10+ year track record of hands on mechanical and electrical work in R&D and production test environments
  • Training and skill in the proper use of mechanical tools and precision metrology as well as electrical wiring, instrumentation, DMM, oscilloscope operation
  • Curiosity, willingness to learn and adapt to a wide degree of task and situations
  • Self-motivation, maturity, and leadership to set the tone in a lab environment around organization, cleanliness, safety, and quality of work
  • Formal technical training, associate's degree, apprenticeships, etc
Responsibilities
  • This is an engineering / R&D-focused technical role. Embed in a fast-moving engineering team developing new battery/inverter/motor/transmission systems. Work dynamically with engineering peers while applying technical judgment, creativity, and organizational skills to a wide variety of projects ranging from micro-electronics to the assembly of precision mechanical assemblies
  • Perform a wide variety of technical, documentation, procurement and organizational tasks as part of a mechanical and electrical powertrain engineering team
  • Assemble, disassemble, measure, and calibrate various mechanical and electromechanical product prototypes and test fixtures including motors, drive units, actuators and small vehicles
  • Conduct teardowns and tests, make physical measurements, and enter resulting data and findings into various databases and documents
  • Use machines and hand tools to build simple fixtures and jigs to assist testing
  • Procure tools and equipment for a powertrain lab
  • Create and maintain a lab that is safe, clean, organized, and exudes high quality products
  • Work collaboratively with engineers to both execute on pre-designed systems, as well help find solutions to unforeseen problems during builds
