Requirements
  • CVT or board eligible for Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia A: 0-1 year of experience
  • CVT for Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia B: 2-3 years of experience
  • CVT for Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia C: 3-4 years of experience
  • CVT for Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia D: 5-8 years of experience
  • CVT for Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia E: 8+ years of experience and a Veterinary Technician Specialist or additional certifications
  • Ability to anesthetize small animals including inpatient, outpatient, critical and non-critical cases
  • Ability to review medical history and develop anesthetic protocols for each patient
  • Ability to place intravenous catheter(s)
  • Ability to perform physical examinations
  • Ability to induce, maintain, and recover from anesthesia
  • Ability to oversee recovery and determine readiness for discharge
  • Set up equipment for cases and communicate with clinicians
  • Maintain flow of daily schedule by starting cases on time and communicating with clinicians
  • Work schedule of five days per week, eight hours per day and on-call overnight and weekends once fully trained
  • Background checks may be required after a conditional job offer
Responsibilities
  • Anesthetize small animals including inpatient, outpatient, critical and non-critical cases
  • Review the medical history of the animal
  • Develop an appropriate anesthetic protocol for each patient
  • Place intravenous catheter(s)
  • Perform physical examinations
  • Induce, maintain, and recover the animal from anesthesia
  • Oversee recovery of the animals and indicate when the animal is able to return to its ward or be discharged
  • Set up appropriate equipment for cases
  • Communicate with clinicians regarding inpatient cases
  • Maintain the flow of the daily schedule by starting cases at the appropriate times and communicating with clinicians
