We are currently hiring an experienced software Verification and Validation Engineer to lead formal testing of our medical device software. The unique position is largely Windows application focused, but includes physical devices, cloud computing, client-server communication, and other functional areas. Our cross functional R&D department has Software and Hardware development teams on site for close collaboration and around the world for broad expertise. Software quality testing is an essential part of the close-knit team and involved with all stages of development. JOB SUMMARY:
The Sr. Software Verification & ValidaEngineer will utilize experience to lead formal verification and/or validation testing and planning for the complete range of projects. The candidate will work closely within a core team dedicated to the development of next generation sensors and act as the main representation for the V&V team.
The position will use in-depth technical and business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products with a new perspective using existing solutions. The position performs tasks independently with minimal guidance and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. The position impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service objectives within R&D.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
- Leads planning and execution of verification testing activities in support of assigned projects.
- Designs, develops, reviews and executes test cases and procedures.
- Performs Verification and Validation testing, tracks and reports on progress, documents incidents found, ensures test completion, reviews results, and generates reports.
- Coordinates with other Verification Engineers on relevant test activities.
- Participates in the creation and review of functional requirements for technical accuracy and testability.
- Works closely with all engineering disciplines as well as Project Management, Product Management and RA/QA personnel.
- Windows based software testing with both formal requirements and ad-hoc investigation.
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic evaluation both individually and with software developers.
- Specifies, designs, and manages test systems, automated user interface testing, virtual environments, and related tooling.
- Ensures consistency of execution and documentation within the V&V team
- Develops and implements process improvements for all levels of V&V activity.
- Works with external testing laboratories (e.g. – environmental) for verification activities as needed.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or other technical fields or relevant certifications.
- 5+ years of experience in system-level verification testing
- Experience developing verification test cases, procedures, plans, analyzing test results, and writing reports.
- Experience in a test lead capacity and managing a project’s verification efforts.
- Experience using Requirement, Test Case, and Incident Management tools (e.g. – Jama Connect).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in medical devices (21 CFR Part 820.30, ISO 13485, IEC 60601) or other regulated industry. Knowledge of medical device regulations (FDA, EU MDR) and compliance with ISO-14971, IEC-60601, IEC-62304, IEC-62366.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products and strong working experience on setting up lab test equipment, setting up computer workstations and deploying software onto target systems.
- Experience with requirements management (including technical content reviews), design reviews, test reviews, and change control activities.
- Hands-on experience with designing, building, and maintaining test fixtures and/or working with external laboratories to perform testing.
- Understanding of cloud systems including AWS and Azure.

At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
