Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • An active Department of Defense Secret clearance is required; the role requires the ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Suitability.
  • Five or more years of directly relevant experience as a Linux Systems Administrator are required.
  • Three or more years of experience administering Splunk Enterprise and ingesting logs are required.
  • Three or more years of experience with Ansible automation, including Ansible Core or Ansible Tower/Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, are required.
  • The role requires on-site work in Arlington, Virginia two to three days per week.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Systems Engineering is required, with an alternative pathway of a high school diploma and seven or more years of lab management or systems administration experience.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across physical locations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a lead Linux Systems Administrator overseeing Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments across development, lab, and production systems.
  • Perform large-scale configuration management and deployment across Windows, macOS, Linux/Unix, other operating systems, and virtual environments to support the Technical Engagement Network infrastructure.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and equipment in the lab environment.
  • Provide ongoing systems administration, technical support, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting services.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and workflows to automate application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for large-scale provisioning, configuration management, and compliance enforcement.
  • Administer and maintain Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud for system monitoring, security analytics, and operational intelligence.
  • Implement and monitor security controls, including Security Technical Implementation Guide compliance, access management, and audit configurations for Linux and Splunk systems.
  • Develop dashboards and alerts in Splunk for proactive system health, performance, and security-event monitoring.
  • Implement granular access control, monitor systems for performance and user accessibility, establish backups, and monitor systems security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex enterprise storage problems related to storage and replication strategies across local and wide area networks; monitor storage-related network and system issues and remediate them.
  • Identify efficiencies in existing procedures with customer approval.
  • Manage assigned project components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Advise and provide insight on the development of lab standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Apply security concepts, theories, insights, tools, and methodologies to mitigate system weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience writing technical procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with virtualization automation and optimization.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems, including Linux/Unix, Windows, and macOS.
  • Department of Defense 8140.01 Information Assurance Technical Level II certification.
