Requirements
  • At least 3 years' journalism or market analysis experience
  • Experience analyzing data and market drivers using Excel and other analytics platforms/tools
  • Experience with source development and market engagement
  • Experience with environmental, commodities, or financial sector reporting (preferred)
  • Market reporting experience in covering and working knowledge of low-carbon and/or emissions reduction markets and commodity market fundamentals (preferred)
  • Knowledge of carbon markets - cap and trade/cap and invest (preferred)
  • Existing industry contacts (preferred)
  • Willingness to cross-train and learn how to cover several different carbon markets in a back-up capacity, beyond your primary market assignment
Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze spot market price transactions from industry participants via email, instant messaging and by phone
  • Verify the legitimacy of transactions and adhere to Dow Jones pricing methodology to create daily price assessment
  • Generate breaking and feature news alerts on carbon markets, clean energy and environmental sustainability initiatives and legislation that impacts pricing
  • Research and report on new developments in carbon policies and programs
  • Contribute to social media content, blog postings, industry analysis, and publish Dow Jones reports
  • Network and develop sources in the U.S. carbon industry
