Requirements
  • An Associate's degree in Library Science or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Two years of experience in library services, education, customer service, or a related field is required.
  • The position requires a valid Georgia driver's license that must be maintained.
  • The role requires knowledge, skills, and abilities obtained through the stated education, training, and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provide courteous customer service and assistance to library patrons and the public.
  • Manage the circulation desk, including checking materials in and out, renewing books, registering patrons, and updating patron records.
  • Research titles, availability, patron records, library services, procedures, fees, and local information.
  • Reserve materials and notify patrons about overdue items and reserved materials.
  • Assist patrons with copy machines, public computers, wireless internet, websites, software, printing, connection issues, reference materials, and online databases.
  • Collect and record payments for fines, fees, book sales, and other library services.
  • Process print and audiovisual materials for circulation and handle damaged or unresolved audiovisual material issues.
  • Receive, register, assess, sort, shelve, and withdraw library materials needing repair.
  • Attend department meetings and check branch email.
  • In the absence of the branch manager, supervise, direct, evaluate, schedule, train, and assign staff; review timesheets; address employee concerns; and assist with performance appraisals.
  • In the absence of the branch manager, organize and prioritize work, ensure staff have necessary resources, monitor work progress, inspect completed work, provide technical assistance, report progress to management, and assist with procedure manual revisions.
  • Serve as the audiovisual liaison.
  • Prepare reports and maintain daily and monthly reports for the library branch.
