Requirements
  • A master's degree in Nursing with an approved Advanced Practice Registered Nurse curriculum or higher, or a Master of Science in Physician Assistant degree.
  • Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Florida Board of Nursing, or applicable physician assistant certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Board certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from a nationally accredited organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, or physician assistant board certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications.
  • Clinical Investigator Training Initiative certification within three months of employment.
  • Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certification upon hire or during orientation, renewed every two years.
  • Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner certification after one year of employment in the oncology service line.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
  • Ability to manage a budget and work within budget constraints.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, lead, and manage the clinical practice, quality, and safety of patient care for an interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate care and patient needs with licensed independent providers, population managers, care managers, and other care partners.
  • Participate in hiring, supervision, and performance evaluation for team members.
  • Initiate interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve team and patient goals.
  • Advance clinical practice within and beyond the department to improve patient care, particularly for patients at risk for adverse outcomes.
  • Disseminate clinical knowledge and nursing practice development through scholarly publication and professional meetings.
  • Lead or participate in departmental, hospital, and system-level committees and task forces.
  • Collaborate with physicians, physician assistants, and interdisciplinary teams to refine goals, analyze team-based care results, and present findings to organizational and clinical leaders.
  • Provide direct patient care, counseling, teaching, physical examinations, preventive health measures, diagnostic testing, care planning, and follow-up.
  • Set priorities for efficient, evidence-based, and cost-effective patient care management.
  • Provide patient education and counseling regarding health maintenance, prevention, promotion, and self-care management.
  • Use performance and patient outcome data for continuous quality improvement and help develop systems for patient care and disease management.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure employee training on controls, University policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee Advanced Practice Providers within oncology programs, track volume metrics, and communicate resource needs to executive leadership.
  • Act as a liaison among physician leaders, clinical teams, departments, divisions, hospital leadership, department heads, and collaborating physicians.
  • Mentor and develop Advanced Practice Providers from novice to expert and identify learning needs and educational opportunities.
  • Coordinate preceptor assignments and Advanced Practice Provider student placements with university liaisons.
  • Ensure compliance, credentialing, competencies, and professional standards for Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Coordinate weekday and weekend coverage across satellites, hospitals, and outpatient areas as needed.
  • Evaluate and approve Advanced Practice Provider time-off requests according to University policy.
  • Lead entity committees and co-lead collaborative teams developing new services or strategic performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic and operational initiatives, prioritize competing demands, and support staff through organizational transitions.
  • Recruit, hire, and facilitate training and orientation; manage, recognize, and reward performance; and provide formal and informal performance feedback.
  • Cultivate professional growth, retain talent, and develop future leaders.
  • Participate in research, apply research findings and nursing theory, and promote evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Collect data for patient and program evaluation and participate in quality assessment, improvement, and patient-experience activities.
  • Improve clinical operations and patient experience by coordinating plans of care addressing patients' and families' medical, surgical, emotional, physical, educational, short-term, and long-term needs.
  • Monitor national best practices and integrate them into current practice.
  • Identify operational gaps, formulate corrective plans, implement initiatives, track timelines, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Develop clinic-flow parameters, benchmarks, dashboards, and proactive patient-flow processes with executive and nursing leadership.
  • Cross-cover for other Advanced Practice Providers or Advanced Practice Provider supervisors when needed.
  • Draft policies and procedures for new initiatives and update existing policies.
  • Provide senior management with timely updates on progress, scope, schedule, and resource changes.
  • Operate within budget guidelines under executive leadership supervision.
  • Collaborate with nursing and system leadership to meet and maintain accreditation standards.
