UMB Financial reported Q2 net income of $271.8 million, or $3.56 per diluted share, driven by strong loan growth, higher fee income and investment gains. The company achieved an operating return on tangible common equity of 20.3%. Average loans rose at a 12.6% annualised rate from Q1, with commercial and industrial loans growing nearly 22%. Credit quality remained solid, with net charge-offs at 16 basis points of average loans whilst nonperforming loans improved to 31 basis points from 38 basis points in Q1.
