LAFC introduces its new signing: Ecuadorian Sergio Vásquez.

LAFC introduces its new signing: Ecuadorian Sergio Vásquez. The Los Angeles team adds Sergio Vásquez, a 22-year-old midfielder who leaves Orense SC after establishing himself in Ecuador's first division. Aug 25, 2026, 9:08 PM EDT LAFC announced the addition of Ecuadorian midfielder Sergio Vásquez, who will arrive from Orense SC to continue his career in the MLS. The 22-year-old footballer signed an agreement that ties him to the Los Angeles team through the 2029-2030 season, with a club option to extend his stay until 2030-2031. The move involves the transfer of 70% of the player's economic rights, while the Ecuadorian team will retain 30% with an eye to a potential future deal. Vásquez will occupy an international spot on LAFC's roster and will be registered as a U22 Initiative player, although he is still awaiting his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa. A bet on a midfielder developed at Orense. LAFC's new player developed virtually his entire professional career at Orense SC, the club he joined from the youth ranks at age 11. Before making the jump to the first team, Vásquez participated with Orense in the 2022 U-20 Copa Libertadores. A year later he made his debut in the top tier of Ecuadorian football and began to gain prominence as a midfielder. According to data provided by the clubs, the Ecuadorian played 91 matches with Orense in all competitions, 76 of them as a starter, with 5 goals and 7 assists. His production during 2026 finished consolidating him as a regular piece of the team. Vásquez started all 26 league matches he played this season and recorded four goals and three assists. LAFC looks again toward Ecuadorian football. Vásquez's arrival also expands the relationship between LAFC and Ecuadorian football, a connection that has already produced several important protagonists at the Los Angeles club. Ecuadorians Diego Palacios and José Cifuentes have combined 204 MLS regular-season matches with the Los Angeles team. Both, along with Jhegson Méndez, were part of the squad that won the 2022 MLS Cup. Palacios, Cifuentes, and Méndez also represented Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Orense confirms the transfer of Sergio Vásquez. Orense SC also announced that it reached an agreement with LAFC to transfer 70% of its youth product's economic rights. "An agreement has been reached with LAFC of the MLS for the transfer of 70% of the economic rights of our youth academy player Sergio Vásquez, so that he can continue his career in the United States." The Ecuadorian club added that it will retain the remaining percentage: "Orense will retain 30% of his economic rights, with projection for a future transfer." "Sergio Vásquez is black and gold." The operation thus represents a new step in the career of a footballer who went through Orense's youth categories, consolidated himself in the Ecuadorian first division, and now will have his first experience outside his country in the MLS. D.C. United acquires El Salvador international Nathan Ordaz from LAFC.

D.C. United acquires El Salvador international Nathan Ordaz from LAFC. Monday, Jul 13, 2026, 10:55 AM D.C. United acquires El Salvador international Nathan Ordaz from LAFC, Ordaz joins the Black-and-Red as a U22 Initiative player. WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jul. 13, 2026) - D.C. United has acquired El Salvador National Team player Nathan Ordaz in a Cash for Player Trade from Los Angeles Football Club. The Black-and-Red acquired Ordaz for $2.375 million and could send up to an additional $500,000 to LAFC if Ordaz meets certain performance incentives. LAFC may also retain a sell-on percentage of any future transfer or trade. Ordaz joins the Black-and-Red as a U22 Initiative player. "Nathan is an exciting talent who has shown a natural ability to score goals and provide assists," said Dr. Erkut Sogut, D.C. United Managing Director of Soccer Operations. "He works relentlessly on both sides of the ball, and he provides us flexibility as he can play as both striker and winger. We are excited for Nathan to join our family in the second half of our season as we continue to re-shape our roster and build a winning culture." Ordaz, 22, joins D.C. United after emerging as one of Major League Soccer's brightest young attacking talents. A product of the LAFC academy, Ordaz signed a Homegrown contract in 2022 and has developed into a dynamic young forward. He has made nine MLS appearances (six starts) this season, scoring two goals and recording one assist across 501 minutes played. Ordaz also featured in five CONCACAF Champions Cup matches, scoring one goal in a 2-1 win against Costa Rican side LD Alajuelense. The forward spent the past three-and-a-half seasons with LAFC, making 98 appearances across all competitions while scoring 14 goals and recording eight assists. Ordaz made his debut for LAFC on May 9, 2023, starting the match and converting his penalty in a 7-6 shootout win over Monterey Bay FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. He would net his first goal for the club on Aug. 2, 2023, in a 7-1 Leagues Cup win over FC Juárez of Liga MX. His standout season came in 2025, where he scored five goals and tallied five assists in 26 MLS appearances while also contributing two goals and one assist in five CONCACAF Champions Cup matches. As a result, Ordaz was featured in MLS's 22 Under 22 Rankings in 2025, ranking as the eighth best young talent. The California native joined the LAFC academy in 2018, working his way through the academy until signing as the fourth homegrown player in club history in 2022. He also made appearances for LAFC2 in MLS NEXT Pro and went on a short loan spell with Las Vegas Lights FC in the USL Championship. Ordaz has represented El Salvador's youth national team at the U20 level and earned his first cap for the senior team on March 20, 2024, in a 1-1 international friendly draw against Bonaire. He recorded his first international goals for La Selecta earlier this year, scoring a brace in a 2-2 draw against the Dominican Republic in March. In total, Ordaz has 14 caps for El Salvador, scoring two goals and registering three assists.
