Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Three to five years of experience is required in a publishing, purchasing print, lettershop, project management, or supply chain management environment, including at least two years of previous management experience.
  • Knowledge of the print production process for four-color publications is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of operational workflow dynamics are required to track and analyze production status effectively.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing is required.
  • Professional public communication skills are required to represent Liberty University to business and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent computer skills are required.
  • The ability to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems is required.
  • A valid Virginia driver's license, acceptable driving record, and liability insurance are required if driving university vehicles.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and accuracy of the Project Management and Prepress Technician teams.
  • Contribute to digital and manufacturing objectives for quality, productivity, and service through incremental process improvements or re-engineering as needed.
  • Identify training needs, align necessary resources, and ensure training is completed on time.
  • Develop and implement empowered working teams to attain world-class operations standards.
  • Understand and use Adobe WorkFront, Tharstern, Infigo, Dropbox, Adobe Creative Suite, and BCC Bulk Mailer.
  • Set and maintain deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize the capabilities and functions of Project Managers and Prepress Technicians.
  • Plan master production schedules for all projects under the direction of the Director of Print and Mailing Services.
  • Communicate with Project Management, Prepress, and Production personnel to maintain accountability for critical dates and meet production schedules.
  • Manage and accept daily responsibility for assigned personnel performing digital production-related tasks.
  • Determine weekly staffing requirements and redeploy resources as needed to address changing staffing needs, priorities, and schedules.
  • Lead the Project Management and Prepress teams in managing print for assigned campaigns to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely production.
  • Work with vendors to support continuous improvement and optimal production solutions for software systems and concepts.
  • Maintain current knowledge of USPS postal requirements and ensure compliance with regulations for assigned projects.
  • Process and track mock-ups, prototypes, electronic templates, and printer proofs.
  • Communicate supply chain issues to the production team and coordinate accordingly.
  • Participate in and lead relationship and business reviews with key partners and vendors.
  • Understand client project descriptions and ensure projects are completed as requested.
  • Manage purchase orders in the Jaggaer system against open departmental orders.
  • Complete chargebacks in Jaggaer for projects completed within the University.
  • Create invoices for projects completed outside the University and submit them to accounting for billing.
  • Quote assigned Printing & Mailing Services projects, including marketing and non-marketing projects.
  • Remain current in Adobe WorkFront, the Tharstern management information system, the Infigo web-to-print system, Adobe Creative Suite, and BCC Bulk Mailer.
  • Oversee nine employees and one student worker, including the Project Managers and Prepress teams.
  • Represent the University in accordance with its policies and Christian mission.
  • Travel periodically to local and campus locations and perform occasional physical tasks related to the work environment.

  • Exposure to United States Postal Service postal regulations is preferred.
