Requirements
  • An associate degree or 0–3 years of required experience in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or Clinical Laboratory Science, which may include experience in the Armed Forces.
  • Knowledge of electronics and/or laboratory science.
  • Completion of Sysmex-certified instrument training.
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days.
  • Willingness to relocate to any Sysmex service district throughout the United States.
  • General computer knowledge in a Windows environment.
  • The ability to explain complex technical information associated with Sysmex instrument systems in simple and understandable terms.
  • Listening skills, patience, and understanding.
  • Presentation and influence skills.
  • Team orientation and facilitation skills.
  • The ability to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition and handle stress acceptably.
  • The ability to maintain a high energy level and positive attitude.
  • Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
  • Satisfaction of customer credentialing requirements, generally including proof of current vaccinations for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and COVID-19.
Responsibilities
  • Successfully complete all training required to perform Field Service Technician duties.
  • During the training program, travel within service districts to work with a mentor or assist with service-related tasks.
  • Upon successful completion of the training program, provide service support in the respective service districts.
  • Travel up to 50% within the United States during training.
  • Accept a Service Engineer or related position after successful completion of the program.
  • Install, maintain, and repair Sysmex instruments and systems.
  • Identify and analyze instrument problems.
  • Repair instruments to meet specifications.
  • Perform pre-installation site surveys, installations, scheduled maintenance, and approved modifications in accordance with Sysmex policies.
  • Schedule modifications indicated in the Technical Service Bulletin and Engineering Change Request processes.
  • Monitor and respond to communication devices during all scheduled times.
  • Document all service-related activities, including inventory, service orders, expense reports, and other required records, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform duties within defined service standards, including on-time and labor-hour goals for scheduled maintenance, demand service events, installations, and first-visit repair rates.
  • Support and take ownership of technical issues at existing customer sites.
  • Work cross-functionally with other Sysmex associates to achieve total customer resolution and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain expenses within guidelines.
  • Maintain customer account management and organizational standards.
  • Maintain control of parts inventory and company property.
  • Perform duties in a manner that develops confidence, promotes goodwill, and maintains or improves credibility regarding product quality and customer service.
  • Promote effective, positive, and productive communication and teamwork among Sysmex personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Basic knowledge of Laboratory Information System systems and interfacing principles.
  • A second language, such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
