Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED plus 4–6 years of experience in process, chemical, or fertilizer production, or an Associate degree (AA/AS) plus 2–4 years of experience in engineering, physics, mechanics, electrical systems, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience with tools, machinery, or industrial equipment.
  • Comfort working with high-pressure systems.
  • Ability to complete electrical calibrations.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and lift heavy equipment when needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lockout/tagout, confined-space, and personal protective equipment procedures before hire.
  • Experience with instrumentation calibration and water chemistry analysis, including pH, electrical conductivity, and auto-titrations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
  • Operate, clean, and maintain reactors, pumps, tanks, blenders, and absorbers used in fertilizer production safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Monitor and adjust reactor parameters and equipment settings to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Perform water chemistry analysis and adjust chemical feeds accordingly.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on plant systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct basic product tests and inspections to ensure quality standards.
  • Keep accurate records of production, maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Collaborate with engineers and research and development teams to improve processes and develop new products.
  • Independently run complex, multi-system operations across a full shift without direct supervision.
  • Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams and human-machine interfaces, and perform first-line troubleshooting without escalation in most cases.
  • Follow safety protocols and environmental guidelines to maintain a safe workplace.

  • Forklift or scissor lift experience.

The trial also showed improved tissue nutrient content and better soil nutrient balance, reinforcing the dual benefits of efficiency and sustainability. In the lettuce trial, Nitricity Inc. achieved a higher yield, improved quality with better leaf crispness and color intensity, and a better soil to leaf nutrient balance.
