Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a technical environment (Data Centers, Construction, Manufacturing, or Hardware).
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of negotiating multi-million dollar contracts with favorable terms.
  • Analytical Skills: proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) and experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) to drive decision-making.
Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management: Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for high-value CapEx categories (e.g., Chillers, CDUs, Generators, Switchgear, and IT Hardware). Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to diversify the supply base and mitigate single-source risks. Lead Request for Proposals (RFPs) and complex contract negotiations, focusing on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), warranty terms, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Supply Planning & Inventory Control: Collaborate with Engineering and Capacity Planning teams to translate technical roadmaps into accurate material forecasts. Manage "Open-to-Buy" budgets and optimize inventory levels to balance working capital against the risk of stockouts during critical build phases.
  • Vendor Performance & Relationship Management: conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with key suppliers to drive continuous improvement in quality, lead time, and innovation. Serve as the primary escalation point for supply disruptions, utilizing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Logistics & Compliance: Oversee complex global logistics, ensuring the safe and compliant transport of heavy infrastructure equipment across international borders (managing Incoterms, customs, and duties). Ensure all vendors adhere to Company Name’s sustainability and ethical sourcing standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP (Ariba/S4HANA), Oracle, or Coupa.
  • Technical familiarity with mechanical or electrical infrastructure (ability to read basic specs and understand BOMs).
  • Resilient: You stay calm under pressure when global supply chains are disrupted.
  • Collaborative: You can bridge the gap between "Engineering wants the best tech" and "Finance wants the best price."
  • Ethical: You hold yourself and your vendors to the highest standards of integrity.

ECL provides Data Center-as-a-Service through hydrogen-powered, modular 1 MW data centers that run off-grid using hydrogen fuel cells, with water recycled for cooling in a closed loop to achieve zero emissions. The facilities deploy in about six to nine months and can be expanded by adding more 1 MW blocks to form larger campuses, including support for high-density AI workloads. Revenue comes from build-and-handoff (one-time fee) and build-and-operate (recurring monthly fees). ECL differentiates itself by eliminating grid dependence, emphasizing sustainability and rapid deployment, with a goal to expand its green data center footprint, including a planned 1 GW campus in Texas to meet growing AI demand.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • The 35 MW Santa Clara FlexGrid site lets AI operators start workloads immediately while traditional facilities wait years for utility approvals.
  • ECL secured a SEK 30 million PowerCell order for PS190 fuel cells targeting 5 MW capacity at CSC-1, with deliveries by end of 2026.
  • The ECL-PowerCell-Bosch partnership aims to deliver over 300 MW of hydrogen fuel cells for AI data centers, reducing grid dependence.

What critics are saying

  • Green hydrogen costs 30–45 cents/kWh vs. ECL's 8–12 cents/kWh target, eroding its 30–40% TCO advantage within 6–12 months.
  • Industry experts view hydrogen as better for backup than primary generation, undermining ECL's off-grid positioning and investor confidence in 12–18 months.
  • Lambda's partial commitment leaves ~30–40 MW unleased at TerraSite-TX1, creating immediate revenue shortfall risk on the $450M project within 6–12 months.

What makes ECL unique

  • ECL delivers 6–9 month deployment via modular, off-grid hydrogen-powered data centers, cutting 60–75% time vs. 18–24 months.
  • Its FlexGrid platform combines grid, hydrogen, natural gas, renewables, and diesel into one feed, enabling 2–25 MW scaling without utility delays.
  • The 1 MW Mountain View prototype is fully leased to Cato Digital, validating zero-emission, water-repurposing cooling without local resources.
