Bluepoint Games has begun the exciting work of original development and seeks passionate, industry-leading talent to join our pursuit of consistently crafting Game of the Year quality experiences. Our studio is renowned for critically acclaimed titles that exceed what the world expects of us, most recently the PS4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus the PS5 launch title Demon’s Souls.
As Lead VFX Artist, you’ll work with our amazing team of effects artists and technical artists to develop industry-leading visuals. You’ll collaborate closely with our Engineering, Character, Animation, and Environment teams to deliver world-class effects in our proprietary engine. You’ll also be closely involved with Production to deliver schedule and risk assessments, while helping manage your team’s workload.
Responsibilities
Works closely with the Art Director to keep quality and style consistent across all environments
Provides direction to VFX artists for aesthetic and technical considerations
Coordinates with adjacent departments to ensure dependencies are met and bottlenecks are mitigated
Works with Production to prioritize work and maintain a clear and consistent schedule
Schedules the team, reviews work for quality, and carries out various supervisory responsibilities
Upholds a sense of professional ownership, promotes a positive morale, and ensures tasks completed to the Bluepoint quality bar
Is proactive in finding answers and able to clearly communicate issues and direction to the team
Assists in managing artist workload within common project management software
Qualifications
Has shipped at least one AAA title as a Lead VFX Artist.
Strong work ethic and world class, lead-from-the-front mindset
Has strong self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses
Experienced in expression-based editors to create industry-defining content
Has a portfolio that demonstrates in-depth understanding of next-gen game engines
Expertise with PBR, lighting, rendering, and material authoring
Excellent artistic interpretive skills translating concept to in-game content
Strong technical prowess in a PBR based VFX workflow

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$124,600—$186,800 USD
