Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or Project Management or equivalent related experience in installation and maintenance of protection and control equipment in substations.
  • Ten years of experience in the electric utility industry, including five years of experience in Protection and Control Testing.
  • Five years of experience in leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure Substation Test work is completed on time, within budget, and to quality expectations while adhering to safety and regulatory compliance and preparing for emergency situations.
  • Manage large capital and operating expense budgets to ensure work identified in the Operating Plan is completed and unit cost targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate large complex projects across multiple supervisors to ensure Test resources are identified for on-time completion.
  • Participate in developing department metrics to measure performance against annual or longer-term goals and objectives for time-bound projects or ongoing operational work.
  • Provide data for department performance to management and adjust based on business needs.
  • Develop and manage the department budget, regularly monitor expenses against forecast, and provide explanations or justifications for budget items or variances.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or Project Management or a related degree.
  • A certificate of completion of an apprenticeship in the occupation of Electrical Technician.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Knowledge of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers represented employees' contract.
  • Knowledge of substations, grid operations, automation, protection, and project management.
