Shipt operates as a membership-based marketplace that enables same-day delivery of groceries, home products, and electronics from partner retailers. Customers order via mobile app or website, then a network of personal shoppers picks, packs, and delivers items to customers’ doors. The service offers a membership plan for unlimited deliveries on orders above a threshold, with a pay-per-order option for non-members. Shipt partners with major retailers (e.g., Target, Meijer, H-E-B, Costco) and is an independent subsidiary of Target since 2017. Its business model combines retail logistics with a gig-economy workforce, providing flexible shifts for shoppers who perform order fulfillment and last-mile delivery. In 2022, Kamau Witherspoon became CEO. The goal is to make convenient, fast shopping accessible across the United States by connecting shoppers, retailers, and customers through a scalable, on-demand delivery platform.

Shipt advances agentic shopping with new AI experiences in ChatGPT and Claude.

Shipt advances agentic shopping with new AI experiences in ChatGPT and Claude. Aug 18, 2026 From meal planning and back-to-school prep to hosting friends and managing busy schedules, Shipt is making it easier to move from conversation to cart. What should I make for dinner this week? What do I need for a last-minute backyard gathering? How can I get ready for the first week of school without forgetting the essentials? Everyday shopping often starts with a question. Shipt is making it easier to turn those questions into action with new AI integrations in ChatGPT and Claude, helping consumers move from planning and inspiration to a personalized, ready-to-shop cart through natural conversation. Whether building a grocery list for the week, preparing for a special event, organizing back-to-school essentials, or finding ideas for meals and snacks, consumers can describe what they need in their own words and use AI to help turn their plans into a Shipt cart and same-day delivery. Bringing agentic shopping to everyday life As AI becomes a more natural part of how people plan, discover, and make decisions, shopping is evolving beyond traditional search and browsing. Shipt's new AI experiences meet consumers where planning already happens: in conversation. Instead of jumping between search results, recipe sites, notes apps, and shopping lists, shoppers can simply explain what they're trying to accomplish and receive tailored recommendations that help turn ideas into action. With Shipt, that conversation can become a ready-to-shop cart, helping reduce decision fatigue, save time, and simplify everyday planning. From inspiration and planning to checkout In ChatGPT or Claude, customers can use natural language to build carts around real-life needs and moments, then refine recommendations through continued conversations like: * "Shipt, build my grocery cart with five school lunches and easy weeknight dinners for a family of four." * "Shipt, plan a taco night for 12 guests and add everything I need to my cart." * "Shipt, it's spirit week at school. Can you suggest some fun, colorful snacks for Spirit Day?" * "Shipt, I'm hosting wine and cheese night for eight friends. Build my grocery cart." As the conversation continues, shoppers can adjust quantities, swap items, and personalize recommendations before moving to checkout through Shipt. Shopping through ChatGPT The Shipt app in ChatGPT helps consumers move from inspiration to action without hopping between apps, tabs, or to-do lists. How it works: * Open ChatGPT, browse the Plugins directory, and search for Shipt. * Connect in a few clicks. Shipt members can even sign into their account to access their past purchases, saved preferences, and familiar shopping habits, creating a more tailored experience. * Start chatting: Just type "Shipt" or "@Shipt", ask a question, and pick a retailer near you to start building your cart with. * When you're ready, just click "Open in Shipt" to head straight to checkout where you'll see all your items from ChatGPT in your Shipt cart. Shopping through Claude Shipt's integration with Claude brings conversational shopping to planning moments that can carry the greatest mental load. Once connected, shoppers can ask Shipt to help plan meals, build grocery lists, prepare for gatherings, and turn those plans into a cart. Connecting Shipt to Claude is simple: * Click the + icon below the Claude search prompt and select Connectors * Choose Add connector, then Browse connectors * Search for Shipt and select Connect * Sign in to your Shipt account or create a new Shipt account * Begin your prompt with Shipt to start planning A more intuitive future of shopping At Shipt, no order is ordinary. Behind every shopping list is a real moment: a family dinner, a busy week, a celebration with friends, or one less thing to worry about. By expanding its AI experiences across ChatGPT and Claude, Shipt is helping consumers move more confidently from "What should I do?" to "I'm ready." These experiences represent another step toward a future where shopping is more proactive, conversational, and helpful - giving consumers a simpler way to turn everyday plans into action with less effort and greater confidence.

Shipt, DSW team up: revolutionizing last-minute back-to-school needs.

Shipt, DSW team up: revolutionizing last-minute back-to-school needs. Surviving the back-to-school chaos. Every parent knows that prepping for back-to-school isn't a one-and-done affair; it's a marathon of last-minute runs and forgotten items. Now, Shipt and DSW have teamed up to tackle this whirlwind season by rolling out same-day delivery for footwear and accessories. Got a kid who insists their shoes shrunk over the summer? Fear not, this partnership's got your back. The partnership meets urgent needs. Let's face it, even with the best-laid plans, parents still find themselves on the brink of a meltdown over missing kid items. A new survey says 71% of parents are in the same boat - despite starting months ahead, they're still scrambling at the last minute. Shipt's new partnership with DSW aims to change all that by letting parents check off those urgent shoe purchases without leaving the house. "Whether it's realizing your kid needs new sneakers or a mad scramble for a themed school day, these moments matter," highlighted Katie Stratton from Shipt. This sentiment strikes a chord with anyone who's done cartwheels in retail aisles trying to complete their back-to-school list. Shipt, with its 100+ partnerships, is transforming shopping chaos into a straightforward digital experience. From athletics to casual footwear, this collaboration promises ease and convenience. Broadening horizons with DSW. Covering nearly 75 million households nationwide, this deal opens doors to instant access to brands from Adidas to Steve Madden via the Shipt app. By expanding its scope, Shipt isn't just focusing on shoes; it's strategically enriching its partnership palette. Adding DSW to a lineup that includes Office Depot and Lowe's, Shipt is delivering reliability in an era when everyone seems to need peace of mind fast. Offer highlights to get families hooked. The launch comes with a sweetener too - a $15 discount when spending $75 or more on DSW items using the promo code DSW15, valid till September 12. It's a nudge to give the service a try this hectic season. Nothing says "give it a shot" like some dollars off your final bill, right? What's at Stake for Shipt? So, here's where things get interesting. Shipt is no small fry; remember that it's under the big tent of Target Corp. With this new partnership, Shipt's doubling down on last-minute needs, a massive category often seen as a money-spinner during peak shopping seasons. By offering these extras, Shipt stands to solidify its place in the race for same-day delivery dominance. While their parent company, Target, enjoys most of the spotlight, Shipt's evolving into quite the contender in its own right. Are investors watching? Sure, this partnership with DSW might not instantly shake up NASDAQ, but keep an eye on the long-term implications. Retail synergies with giant volumes like DSW expose Shipt to a broader clientele and may eventually translate to more high-value memberships. Could this boost earnings for Target in quarters to come? Possibly. It's a clever way to attract those high-spending shoppers, especially families with perpetual needs. Still, like any fast-paced business, success relies on execution. The payoff hinges on how seamless they can make the buying experience. As an investor, it's key to consider whether these integrations elevate Shipt enough in Target's grand scheme of things. Concluding thoughts. In a market where time is the new currency, Shipt and DSW are stepping up to meet the demands of frantic families. Whether they'll rake in big bucks soon remains to be seen, but there's plenty of room for growth in the instant-gratification retail market. It's a classic case of a smart partnership that could translate into increased brand loyalty and more robust user figures. Keep your finger on this one.

Shipt and Sterling K. Brown celebrate the extraordinary in everyday moments with new "no order is ordinary" Brand platform.

Shipt and Sterling K. Brown celebrate the extraordinary in everyday moments with new "no order is ordinary" Brand platform. Mar 23, 2026 A tomato, a carton of eggs, and a bar of soap. These are not ordinary items - they're the center of bigger and more personal stories: the key ingredient of a beloved family recipe, the batter for Dad's weekend French toast, an 'everything' shower for a brand-new mom. These are the stories Shipt aims to deliver through a bold claim in the same-day delivery space: no order is ordinary. Through a storytelling partnership with award-winning actor Sterling K. Brown, Shipt is honoring the moments that define its daily lives by launching a refreshing new brand platform and an unprecedented annual membership offer. To celebrate this moment, Shipt is introducing its biggest discount yet: now through March 27, Shipt's annual membership is available for just $29* (reg. $99), making it easier than ever to reclaim time and focus on the everyday moments that actually matter the most. A Data-Informed Brand Movement Shipt recognizes that for many members, same-day delivery is essential to sustaining day-to-day rhythms. With more than 40% of Shipt members** ordering three or more times per month, Shipt's reliable same-day delivery fuels everything from weeknight dinners to snacks for the soccer team and everything in between, confirming that while the contents of members' carts might seem ordinary, they are actually the building blocks of the everyday moments that create connections and build memories. That's why Shipt is reinforcing the why behind the order, backed by new Morning Consult insights: the real value of same-day delivery isn't just convenience. It's the exhale that comes after. In fact, 85% of consumers report a positive emotional shift when a delivery arrives, most often feeling calmer***. What's more, additional findings reveal that same-day delivery isn't about speed, it's more emotional than that: * More than half of same-day delivery orders aren't about urgency - they're about relief. * 54% say they order same-day delivery simply "to make life feel easier" - not because they forgot something or needed it urgently. * The #1 feeling after delivery arrives isn't satisfaction - it's calm. Nearly 3 in 10 say they feel less stressed or calmer, the top emotional response. * Same-day delivery is now a safety net, not a luxury. * 35% call delivery an "essential tool for everyday life," with 34% describing it as "a safety net when things fall apart." * Reliability, not speed, is what actually earns trust - by a wide margin. * When items are unavailable, 32% say the most important thing is being asked before a substitution is made - nearly five times the share who prioritize speed. * For 58% of consumers, a dependable delivery service provides peace of mind. It removes the need to double-check, plan contingencies, or stress about what might go wrong - freeing up mental space for everything else in their day. Sterling K. Brown Tapped as 2026 Chief Storyteller To champion the stories that each order tells, Shipt and Brown are teaming up again in 2026 to share the meaningful moments behind the same-day deliveries that Shipt powers. As the brand's first 'chief storyteller,' Brown acts as a dynamic narrator for Shipt and helps tell the story of the brand's deepening focus on human connection and experience. Brown stars in a new national creative campaign debuting today, including amusing social media content, insightful monologues about the care-filled, connected experience Shipt provides, and an ad that showcases a family experiencing the everyday joys that come along with the items delivered via Shipt. "This partnership with Shipt continues to be a natural extension of myself and my own way of living in the world," said Brown. "I've always believed that our lives are really made up of the everyday moments - whether it's cooking breakfast for your family on a Saturday morning or helping kids with a last-minute school project. I know that for my family and me, Shipt elevates those moments for us, not only delivering same day, but shopping in the same way I would." Brown's role marks a year-long commitment to exploring the stories behind its deliveries - including his own. As part of this, Brown shared his "Extraordinary Essentials" cart, offering members a personal look at the 'ordinary' items that make his house a home: * Ingredients for egg frittatas, including organic eggs, spinach, and mushrooms, which he makes with his wife and two sons on weekends. * Brioche bread, a staple ingredient in French toast, Brown's childhood favorite that he still craves. * Peppermint tea and Epsom Salt for recovery after a long day on set. * Kale for a green juice or a High Protein Chobani Shake and fresh fruit for his healthy, go-to snack after a difficult workout. * Palmer's Coco Butter to keep his skin hydrated. * Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap reminds him of home while he's on the road. * Lumify eye drops to stay fresh during long film days. * Movie night popcorn for watching a favorite show with the family. "This platform is rooted in what we know our members value most: the care and connections that define their lives. In an increasingly transactional category, Shipt's differentiator is a more human experience with technology, one built on care and connection, as well as convenience," said Alia Kemet, chief marketing officer for Shipt. "By partnering with Sterling K. Brown to spotlight these 'extraordinary' everyday moments and pairing that with our deepest membership discount yet, we're inviting more people to claim the extraordinary in their own lives with the support of Shipt." Accompanying this new platform is a refreshed brand identity, featuring a new, seamless color palette and branding designed to better connect with consumers as they shop via Shipt. *Offer valid 3/23/26 through 3/27/26 at 11:59 p.m. HT. Offer not valid for current members. Annual membership will renew at the standard membership rate at the end of first year. Cancellation available free of charge anytime. Offer will automatically apply at checkout for qualified recipients. Offer is subject to Shipt Promotion Terms and Conditions. Deliveries under $35 with a membership will incur a $7 fee. All orders with alcohol (where available) may incur a $7 alcohol fee. Service fees may apply and will vary by retailer and location. See Terms of Service. **Based on internal Shipt data ***This survey was conducted by global data intelligence company Morning Consult among a national sample of 2,658 Same-Day Deliver Service Users from March 10-13, 2026.
