Requirements
  • Formal training or certification on Architecture concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization
  • Proven experience architecting authentication, identity and access management, or fraud/risk systems in secure, regulated, or high-availability environments.
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization patterns and protocols such as OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and token/session management.
  • Experience with modern authentication methods, including FIDO2, WebAuthn, multi-factor authentication, and device intelligence.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, including microservices, service mesh concepts, event streaming, idempotency, and consistency.
  • Experience in data architecture for security domains, including feature stores, signals pipelines, real-time decisioning, and logging/auditing.
  • Demonstrated experience leading safe adoption of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment across multiple architecture teams, including validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to define governance expectations for AI-assisted and agentic workflows, including human approval checkpoints, auditability, and control boundaries aligned to resiliency, security, and operational risk outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformation and lead cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
  • Define target state architectures, reference implementations, and modernization plans
  • Lead architecture for core capabilities such as: sign-in, MFA, step-up auth, device binding, session management, identity proofing, account recovery, credential lifecycle, and fraud signals/decisioning.
  • Design secure APIs and event-driven patterns enabling reusable trust services across channels (web, mobile, call center, partners).
  • Embed security controls into designs: least privilege, strong cryptography, secrets management, key rotation, secure enclaves/HSM integration where needed.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and data minimization principles; define data classification, retention, and access patterns.
  • Establishes cross-department governance for AI-assisted and agentic workflows used in architecture decisioning and delivery, including traceability/auditability and control expectations aligned to resiliency and security standards.
  • Architect risk engines and policy frameworks that support adaptive authentication (step-up) and real-time fraud controls.
  • Enable explainable decisioning, model governance hooks, and experimentation (A/B, canary) without compromising controls.
  • Sets reuse-first expectations for enterprise-authorized AI adoption within the work environment across architecture domains to accelerate delivery and improve decision quality, with human-in-the-loop validation and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
  • Define identity models (customer, account, device, session), correlation strategies, and identity graph patterns.
  • Ensure interoperability with standards and integrations (e.g., OIDC/OAuth2/SAML/FIDO2/WebAuthn) and external identity providers/partners.

Meanwhile, Facebook owner Meta and British bank Barclays announced they are also letting go of staff in the Garden State this year. The layoffs come as employers grapple with the impact of inflation, economic uncertainty, and to some degree, artificial intelligence replacing jobs, including entry-level positions. Meta, the parent company of social media platform Facebook, said in public filings that it was letting go of 74 employees across the state effective Aug. 20. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees in last week's memo that companywide layoffs of 8,000 employees is necessary because "success isn't given" in the era of mass AI adoption, CNBC reported. British banking giant Barclays, meanwhile, has plans to let go of 64 employees at its Whippany office between Aug. 10 and Sept. 10. The firm let go of 78 employees in 2025 and 70 staff in 2024, public records show. Barclays executives said in 2023 that the firm would lay off 5,000 people globally as part of a cost-cutting campaign, the BBC reported.
