Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10-12 years of relevant experience
  • Expert knowledge in accounting for real estate, loans and transportation with a foundational understanding of the upstream processes and impacts to downstream accounting and reporting
  • Experience in insurance company Investment GAAP and Statutory reporting a plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex accounting to different stakeholders in the organization at all levels
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, deadline driven; possess excellent documentation and analytical skills
  • Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment with limited direct supervision
  • Proven ability to successfully handle close processes, competing priorities and multiple deliverables
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team responsible for the monthly investment reconciliation for investments in real estate, consumer loans and transportation investments; including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, quarterly 10Q/K investment disclosures and other investment accounting activities
  • Review month end closing procedures, including analytical reviews of SPV financial statements, income statement and balance sheet to support the accuracy of our financial statements
  • Responsible for providing investment office support for new investments in these asset classes in collaboration with the accounting policy team to ensure execution of these results adheres to GAAP and STAT
  • Maintaining oversight of TPAs supporting the real estate, transportation and consumer loan asset classes
  • Responsible for enhancing and performing timely investment analytics to provide senior management results of investment performance at the right level of detail for the audience
  • Point of contact for external auditors, investment office, and TPA's on all investment matters for these asset classes
  • Perform control functions in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and NAIC Model Audit Rule
  • Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects, as requested
